I do regret not ever weighing the 86 Custom I used to own.. it was uncomfortably heavy and I don’t mind some heft.. closest thing to it was the 01 Standard Gold Top I had and it was a svelt 10.5lbs. The Custom was easily 11.5 or more..

Yeah. It’s only a 7 year old thread. Probably worth revisiting.

I have just weighed my Les Paul Studio. It's weight is 9 lb 12oz.
My 1963 Epiphone Olympic is 5lb 14oz. by comparison.
Is the Les Paul anywhere near the record for a stock Les Paul?

:hmm:
How much do y’all reckon the Studio would weigh if it had zero weight relief?

Used to have a Traditional that weighed 13 lbs. Ended up selling the boat anchor. I now have a 17 Classic T that weighs almost 10. Much better for me.

My Trad Faded is 10 lbs on the dot. You dont usually think about 10 pounds being heavy, but in a guitar it just feels heavier than it is. I feel like Im doing curls or something pulling the thing outta the case lol. And thats with the swiss cheese holes. My Charvel super strat is a feather compared to my Les Paul.

I made a thread a few months ago about Les Paul weights, and some people have 11, 12, 13 pound Les Pauls. 10 seems light compared to a 13 pounder lol.

No even close! There were some Norlin LPs from the 70s well into the teens... with I think the heaviest I remember being reported at 17 or 18 pounds.

My Lesters have all been chambered, except for the first one I owned, a Studio Lite. Comes from starting life with Fender products, I guess.

Well, I've had similar sized Ash wood blanks be 4 times heavier as an extreme case.

Course lp's all seem heavy compared to the "68 sg, or the 2014 sg, which both come in at 7 lbs or below. however, i was lucky enough to get a good 2013 studio that is all the lp i need, it weighs 8.4:)

I remember the heaviest i have ever heard about to be in the vicinity of 22 lbs...

....just to see if we can drive internet weight numbers higher - henceforth 22 lbs should be the weight people associate with Norlins.
After all, now "22 lbs" has been written on the almighty internet (a number freely invented by me), and hopefully some of you will remember this number in future threads on Norlin weight, so therefore it may well become the new weight record number for Norlins :D

Well here is one of the lightest... Not a lp but single cut.
I read somewhere that in the seventies Gibson had made a solid brass lp....?
