Have you ever played a 12 string?

have had a couple of 12's in the past, they are nice but after the initial enjoyment of something different the sound can get old pretty quick. They have their uses and are cool for some songs

Glad to see the 12 represented here. Wasn't sure it would be.

Changing strings on a 12 is not that bad really. Doing so on the Rick 360 with standard and slotted pegs looks a tad annoying.

I probably use a capo more for checking neck relief.

Sure, I have two of them. One is a Jay Turser acoustic-electric that I've had about 15 years. The other is a Cozart strat copy I got super cheap on ebay.

same here . I picked up a Seagull 12 string , and was initially excited about the new sound . it didn't take long before the octaves on the lower E and A strings started to annoy me , so it became a 10 string . soon after , I realized that there weren't too many songs that I really needed / wanted it for

gave it away after a month . got a Seagull S6 . nicest sounding acoustic in the price range

On my twelves, I'd sometimes string them as 9-strings, keeping the octaves on the three lowest, and leaving the three highest single to ease lead playing.

while that seems to make sense , it makes me wonder how Lita Ford did that lead work on her BC Rich Bich . basically a 12 string . with the two lower octaves removed . that girl had some strong fingers

had an Ovation back in the day, have a Washburn that is setup perfect and is a blast to play when you just want that sound for awhile

also have two resonators for the same reason...variety is good

unique sound to themselves..

Not a big fan. I do love to use nashville tuning on my 6 string though. It's when you string up only the octave strings from a 12 string set for the E, A, D and G along with the usual B and hi E strings.
Great for recording when you don't want the full weight of an acoustic muddying up the mix by taking a lot of sonic space. It's a light and airy sound.

I almost bought a Takamine 12-string a few years back ... it played so easily that I was doing blues leads complete with bends.

have a danelectro 12 string electric that i bought new for 350 bucks.its no rickenbacker but it gets the job done.

I have a Yamaha 12 string. Parents got it for me around 1980, brand new, for Christmas. Still have it. I play it every now and then.

Played a few acoustics and 1 Rickenbacker. Really like them (12 strings) but never got round to buying one.....yet.

For a while in the 90s, an acoustic 12-string (the one below) was the only guitar I had to hand around the house, so I played nothing else. That influences what you play, how you play it and certainly what you write.

I bought the Rickenbacker a few years ago simply because it's beautiful, but I rarely use it.

I loved my Rickenbacker 360, although it wasn't a 12 string. Beautiful playing and sounding guitars. But I rarely played it because of the music we were doing at the time, so I sold it. And regretted ever since. I did pick up a Rickenbacker 350 later but I still miss that 360..

I love my 350 mainly because of this guy...! Although his was a 325...

Well ... I screwed up one choice: I own at least one - acoustic

Pretend the "- acoustic" is not there - if you own any 12 string select it. If a moderator would be so kind to remove the "- acoustic" bit, I'd be grateful. I'm used to fixing these screw-ups myself at ClubWRX ...

It's good to be a moderator ...
