I just stumbled onto this guitar, I've been shopping for a good deal on an acoustic/electric 12 string and this one came up in the search.

It's a 12 string LP style guitar with a SET NECK, nice looking sunburst finish and frankly from the pics, it don't look bad. Price is $169 to $199 depending on which auction you find.

Here it is:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Professional-12...5|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1318|301:0|293:6|294:50

I was really looking for another Ovation 12 string, I stupidly sold a nice Custom Legend stereo 12 string I had bought new back in the early 80s and sold it and I've had a few others since then but they're gone too.

I've been wanting another Ovation, I love the feel and tone of them. I always have, I have a wine burst CC245 now that's about 15 years old and it's a sweet playing 6 string so I want a 12 string mate for her.

There are a few on ebay I could snag cheap but I'm really kinda torn with the temptation to buy this cheap LP knockoff 12 string Ktone has. They (Ktone) makes some nice double neck electrics too, an SG and a Strat style and the strat got reviewed on Harmony and they said that it's not too bad, needs a good setup and maybe a few upgrade parts and wham, you're good!

So, anyone here got any first hand knowledge of these Ktones? I am a little hesitant to pull the trigger especially since I am looking at a nice natural ovation 12 string for pretty cheap.

Get an Agile 2500 12 String if you want a 12 string LP or try to find a used EP 12 string. Don't waste your money here.

get an acoustic electric if thats what you really want. the electric wont give you the same satifaction, believe me. Fender has some really good 12 strings and so dosent takamine, yamaha and ibanez.

thanks guys, yea I wondered about the "wording". Didn't sound exactly American to me either. But still to look at it, it really doesn't look bad and I'm surprised it has a set neck for that little cash.

The only thing that stuck out in the photo was the knobs look like they are spaced very far apart but that could simply be the camera lens (wide angle) making it look like that or it could be poorly spaced. I don't really mind if it played well.

Regarding the tone of an acoustic electric as apposed to a solid body electric 12 string, I agree the tone won't be close. Those Ovations chime really well and while the shallow and mid-depth bowl versions aren't that loud acoustically they sound fantastic amped. I've never been a big fan of full size dreadnought bodies. After owning several Ovations over the years and still owning a 6 string today I am totally partial to the Ovation design but couldn't help but wonder about that 12 string LP.

I have placed a bid on an Ovation 12 string that ends this afternoon, we'll see if it's in my future.

I know you guys aren't feeling the love on the listing I posted, after all it's only $169 but has anyone ever played one or heard one? Who knows how good or bad they really sound, more importantly how they play and feel. You know it will likely need a setup and probably a decent nut and some fret crowning/dressing, maybe a TR adjustment (if it even works) hell most Epiphones need that too and some Gibsons as well. But if you can get it dialed in fairly close it's easy enough to upgrade the electronics to make it sound as good as it possibly can. For the money it's still tempting. The same vendor sells several double necks and I gotta tell you I really like the look of the double neck Strat, I saw one that reminded me of my old Strat, it was jet black with a white pearloid pickguard, it played really well for a MIM and I upgraded the electronics to Vintage Noiseless pickups. I really have no need for a double neck as I just noodle around in my home studio but still it's pretty cool at at $319 with HSC it isn't a bad deal and while I could only find a few reviews on the double neck Ktone electrics the review was fairly positive considering the cost.
