I own a Hamer Standard in Korina with a one pc quilted flame top, I also have a late 80's Chapparal with a sustainer. It's a shame, but Fender shut Hamer's doors. FMIC was $100 million in the hole & they went out & mortgaged everything to buy Kaman for $117 million. This ruined FMIC's IPO. So they closed one of the best Guitar manufacturers in the world. Let's hope Hamer finds a buyer & stays in business.

Thats sad...i hear now for first time that fender shut down the hamer production.
I ve got a wundefull Hamer Spezial with P90 in Wine Red. This is a very special guitar with such a wonderfull crunch sound and absolute easy to play.
To found a Classic US Made Hamer here in Germany is not easy but i dont give up. So sad...

yeah it's a shame they went out of business.. not long ago I picked up a used Sunburst XT for cheap.. for some reason I find myself always going back to it.. for an overseas made bolt-on, to me it has the most comfortable neck ever..

if the imports are this good, I can only imagine what a USA model is like.. I hope to get a USA model sometime this year..

it's a shame Hamer had to be shut down, meanwhile that clown HJ seems hell bent on making the Gibson "brand" into a laughingstock.

Is this difficult in U.S to get some USA Hamer Guitars?
and thanx for the information about XT Series, i have never test it, because i have believe that they never can get the range of the usa models. i must test one of this korea made hamers, or can i say "korea samick hamers???":D

The imports don't come close the the USA models, but they're pretty decent guitars at their price point. The USA ones are that good.

On another note, I got the advance copy of my book Friday...!

It's a huge shame Fender shut down production on the Hamer line. Currently, they're making Guild out the factory, I've read. But all may not be a total loss. Since they're reviving the Guild name a little more, there's hope they'll do the same with Hamer in the future. It would seem only logical to me. It gives them a line that can directly compete with Gibson - by which I mean, guitars of similar style and feel. My Hamer is way more Gibson in tone and feel than anything Fender has ever put out.

The books are out and about now - I got my copy last week. It is GREAT.

Last week, it was the #1 seller on Amazon in it's category too. Pretty cool to see some Hamer love!

Very cool to watch how they make these amazing guitars. I just got my first Hamer and I can really feel the difference in the craftsmanship between it and any other guitar I've played. The whole guitar vibrates when you play it. Its truly an amazing guitar.

I've played a couple. They are really nice guitars. I couldn't get over the blah headstock but they have some really nice tops.

I would like to have one of their flying V's - I've found them to be MUCH better than gibby's

Same goes for Heritage guitars. Ugly headstocks, great guitars! :thumb:

I still have a Kaman GTX strat in dual sunburst finish that I bought back in the late 80s. From what I understand, Kaman eventually became Hamer guitars.

Hamer was taken over by Kaman, they never made anything with the Kaman brand name.

WhenFender bought Kaman they fired the top guys at Hamer and closed the brand down.

It was a sad day when Fender bought Hamer.
I had a Studio that was great but was sold in one of my many purges.
I did not purge my Monaco III.
It is without question one of the best guitars that I've ever played, and that includes my vintage Gibsons.
The body is slightly larger than a Les Paul.
The back is one piece carved mahogany.
The top is carved solid spruce.
Everything on this guitar is top notch and the build quality is superb.
It is very versatile and will give you just about any one that you want.
I will never sell this guitar.
