Both of them! Even though the mini 14 is currently made of wood and looks more friendly....they are both in the assault rifle class.

Well that would certainly make sense, wouldn't it? It's certainly not a cuddle rifle.

It is an SBR. I have the 551 handguard that I have to cut down and drill to make it look closer to the 552.

The MP5 goes full giggle!

we shall agree to disagree. :laugh2:

things i like on the AK:

Easy to breakdown
Cheap ammo

Things I hate:
The safety
heavy metal mags
mags are harder to insert vs ar
no bolt catch
the sights
the cheek weld

ARs can get pretty freakin' dirty before they malfunction; just ask Pat Rodgers. And who, especially in the civvy or even LE realm, will actually shoot an AR to the point that a dirty chamber will matter?

I agree with Deftone; the problems with the AR platform were resolved a long time ago. I've read reports of issues GIs have had with sand...but it seems that using a different lube from CLP will help that.

Ya I'll agree with ya on most points but have point some things out.
The mags- Well I like the plastic mags better but don't drop one. I've
had 2 break hitting the floor. Never had that happen with a steel mag.
They do have the plastic mag for the AK also.

The Stock is a non issue for me. I have a Norico Sporter with a thumb
through and love it.

The ammo is still cheap but about the same as the AR these days.

Sights a non issue as I have a Scope mount that mounts to the side of
the receiver and can use both open and scope at the same time and change
nothing.

I bought my AR for varmint hunting and needed the extra range of the
AR. I won't hunt deer with it because of the bullet size. It's just to small
IMHO. On the other hand I've shot most of my deer with the AK and one
added advantage has been the larger clip to shoot deer friends have shot
and when we got to them they would jump up. They shoot and tell me to
not let it get away. The AK has never failed me.

So my AK PRO and CONS

Pro's Larger Cal.,No cleaning, and like has been said the ammo is cheap.

Con's . Short range 150yd's is pushing the limits,

Hey I like them both and shoot both alot. Just clean the AR more but I have
A piston uppper coming from Danial Defense it will be a non issue.

Oh I forgot I just order a 308 AR10 upper and have a 300WSM so I guess
the AK won't see as much deer action as it use too. The ranges I'll be shooting here take the AK out of the picture.

Sounds like Hilary is going to Sign the UN gun regulation here on the 27th of this month

It's PR for the world. It won't pass Constitutional muster here, because the Constitution cannot be overridden by a treaty. The latter has the force of statutory law, but the Constitution is the measure against which any law is compared. And the current Supreme Court clearly supports expanded gun rights.
