I've noticed most of the ads I see for these guitars are described as having 70% or, a close second, 80% fret life. Are they saying to lower expectations to keep returns low?

Are the descriptions from the Japanese sellers fairly accurate?
I'm not familiar with buying used instruments. What can I expect from a Japanese guitar with a guesstimate of "70%" fret life? What should I expect from frets described at 70%? Deep grooves, hardly noticeable, or?

Yeah, if it says 70 or 80% you should have plenty of fret left and be happy with how it shows up.

But, always look closely at any pics to decide for yourself how tall those frets are and if there are dings.

I think they say 70-80% when they really don't know and it's not obvious. Every guitar I bought was described as 70-80 and it is a very conservative estimate. Many times they appear brand new and unplayed.
