I just scooped up the vintage Grover USA tuners on eBay for $44. I thought that was an absolute steal, but there are a few issues...

The guy says three are threaded and have nuts and three aren't. For some reason, the peg hole seems to be lower than usual on some of them.

Any thoughts or ideas as to how I can install these on my Les Paul? Or are they good to go as is, after buying three more screws/washers?

Can you post a link to the original item, obviously there are two different kinds of tuners there.

The ones with the low holes and no screw in bushing are from a spanish (slotted) style headstock, or maybe a lap steel. They aren't going to fit your les paul. The other three, good to go.

I haven't paid yet. He has "les paul" in the title. I'd say that's misleading. Should I tell him this and try and cancel the deal or just keep the three and buy additional ones? It's was only $50 though.

It's probably easier to find a matching set than 3 more odd ones, so I'd tell him, explain you don't want them and use ebay's not as described complaint if he moans about it. If you haven't paid yet there isn't much he can do.

Okay, but how much can I get the older ones for? I mean, the more vintage style grovers like these? I sort of want to keep them, but like you said, it'd be hard to find a set of three rather than six.

Man, I f*cked up. I hope he doesn't leave negative feedback...Any advice at this point would help.

He can't leave negative feedback, ebay won't let him. Don't worry about it and move on - it looked like a bargain but $44 for only 3 useable tuners isn't that good really. Keep looking, old grovers aren't that rare.

You're right mate. It's like buying a car without a steering wheel - I can't drive it unless I have all the parts needed.

Oh well, I sent him a message in hopes to resolve things. Thanks again for the info my friend.
