Hey everyone,

Long-time reader, first-time poster.

So I got a real beautiful cherry burst Greco LP Custom today from my favorite shop in the world, 30th Street Guitars in NYC. I've got a good relationship with the folks over there, and the main man Matt, let me know he got a Greco custom in the shop. So I made a trade and gave a little cash and made it happen.

So I've done a lot of reading and I'm finding conflicting information about what year this might be. It has a CLOSED O. The serial number begins with a 0. Some of you folks have said that equals 1980. Others say 1990.

I had an early 1990s Orville. And I've got an early 80s Burny Custom. My instinct says there's no way this Greco is a 1990. But I wanted to ask you very knowledgeable folks to set the record straight!

By the way, it's got a standard split diamond logo on the headstock---not the one with the split rectangle. Will post pics soon.

Split Diamond like on Gibsons? Then it must be a 1980.

I don't think the folks at Greco had even thought of the "splitted" or "cutted" O in 1980.

Pretty safe to say it's a 1980.

GREAT SNAG!

we want pics! we want pics!

...and very curious want kind of p-ups you got with it. :)

Here's the new Greco with her new sister Bunny the Burny:

(in the above image, I put a Gibson Les Paul Custom truss rod cover on; though I didn't screw it in, as the Gibby screws are slightly too large)

Truss rod cover's missing. Going to use the Gibson truss rod cover in the interim.

Kind of bummed that the pickguard didn't come with it, but I got this for such a good deal, it's kind of obscene...

Check out the burst on the back of the neck, and there's that serial number (stamped into the wood)

They may not be mint, but I'm in a frequently touring band. The Burny gets played A LOT. So will the Greco, as we're leaving for a month-long this week.

FAQ section of MLPF, see the toolbar.

"To include an image that is not uploaded as an attachment and is located on another website, you can do so by copying the full URL to the image, (not the page on which the image is located), and either pressing the 'Insert Image' icon or by typing
after it, ensuring that you do not have any spaces before or after the URL of the image. You can insert pictures from your albums (?) in this way too."

You need to use photobucket, or another similar website (free) to keep your pics online.
