For a short while all the Mint Collection customs had a Super Real TRC just like a lot of the early Mint Collection standards all had “Super Real Model” script on the headstocks. It creates lots of confusion with the customs.

My March of 82 500 has a MC shaped TRC but it says Super Power on it. It also has nibs, that large knight's mask inlay and if it has a long tenon then it's under the neck pickup cavity ??? Wulfman told me it's probably more a Super Power than a transitional model.

villager, Other than the tobacco burst on your site which other one do you have? Despite the dark board the blonde one looks to me like an EG-500C considering the 3-piece top and acrylic inlays.

That looks pretty nice. I think I should re-sand my EGC and make it more natural maple coloured. I have an amber tinted nitro on it and think it looked better as pure maple with a clear coat.

Apologies, my mistake on the top. However the board looks so different than your other custom with so many round pores and the wear pattern. I know it’s hard to to tell from pictures but it really looks like dark rose to me. Odd to have a 3-piece back and a neck heel as well but it’s hard to know what the special order was for.

its the lighting in the pics... the two boards are actually very similar in both colour and pore density...3 piece back on some 1200s as well so not that odd.. neck heel..who knows.. its a strange one for sure.. I love it .. lol..

I see what you mean. It’s hard to tell by pictures, they can look so différent.

Thank you for all the info. What would a 82 serial number black beauty with double tricks and MOP/ ebony be?
Is that more likely a 68-60, 68-80 or egc1000? Were they all available in 1982?

I'm not sure if there were any 600s/60s yet in '82 unless they were the 3 pickup models. But there were definitely 800s/80s. The 1000s had the Dry Z or Dry 82 pickups.

The EC58-100 actually has GROOVE pickups. Nice tones.

I had an RS900 with the Groove pickups. It sounded awesome but I couldn't live with the thinner neck. It was my first Greco and I kind of wish I had kept it because they rarely come up for sale. There is one up on YJ now for a ridiculous price.

I have toyed with the idea of getting a 77 thinline Hawk. (similar shape but likely has a thick neck). I've noticed the 77s are getting more expensive used as well though.

I ended up getting Wulf's EG1000 from 1981 instead of the 1982 EG68-80 which would have been around £400 more expensive. It should arrive today!
The EGC68-80 may or may not have a thinner neck, i think the pickups are better but i never heard PU-0 pickups so wasn't sure. 1982 is my birth year so that would have been a plus and it doesn't have a neck repair but all in all I didn't think that amounted to a better guitar than the 1981 for the price.
Thanks for the advice, some of these that I've looked at were even over $2,000 so i feel like I got a good deal. Thanks!
