On balance I find 99.9% of "tone clips" sub-par...and I'm not adding to that body of work. :laugh2:

I hear ya. But I bet a well placed SM-57 into a good mic pre would do that thing justice. I think the problem with most "demos" is they're done with the audio from a cheap video camera or a cell phone. I run a mic to the amp and replace the audio in a video editor. It's fairly easy to sync it in (especially a short clip) and it sounds infinitely better than the cheap mics in the camera.

I'd let you take a photo with my guitar, but it would require above average levels of Photoshop to get the effect you are looking for.

I think you would be surprised how well that amp would stand up next to your Burst, Scott!

Not as quite as clean but here is my GA-20 and my '55. Great preamp in these.
Great class A style amp. I slightly modded (reversible) mine when we refreshed the caps.
Best amp I own.

I had a GA30 with the two different speaker sizes. Awesome tremolo. Was in my car when it got stolen a bunch of years ago. :(

Great photos, but that amp is just the shiznit. just needs a beat up vintage 355, something not so pristine , something that doesn't take over the frame, like a real beater that makes the amp look even better.
just my way of goading for more pics.:thumb:

OK OK since we're going down the rabbit hole I'll bite :naughty:

I honestly found this GA30 to be a bit darker than I'd have preferred. It sounded quite good, especially for jazz tones, but the Silvertone 1484 the shop had next to it was a lot more exciting of a sound.
I've heard good things about the GA40 though, I haven't tried enough of this series to know

wow, great pictures, thanks.

I didn't know those amps before and did a little research. Stumbled over Doug & Pat with a different vintages shootout. Does anybody know which one he is playing through at around min. 19?

Jeez. How & where do you find amps like that. Was it ever taken out of the box?
