Hi all.

I added a Graptech TUSQ nut to my 2012 Les Paul Traditional. Everything was pretty straightforward, thanks to YouTube guides.

However, now the new nut is fitted, the D string is buzzing when played open. All the other strings are fine and have no buzz. I'm guessing this would indicate the D string nut slot was cut too low at the factory. I've ordered another nut to see if it was a one off - I also emailed Graptech support to complain.

I had thought about filling the D slot, but part of the reason I fitted it was to solve tuning issues, especially on the D string and my filling and nut cutting technique isn't that great - and, why should I have to with such a good product. I'll say this, the self lubricating nut really does make a difference to the stability of tuning and generally playability.

Has anyone had any similar experience with the Graptech nuts?

Thanks

Jim

I had the same thing happen on my precision kit. In hind sight I would have been better off keeping the nut a bit higher and fine tuning the slots.

I ended up putting a zero fret nut on it, I’ve really come to love those things.

Filing the slots down is a good idea, but it's strange that all the strings are fine but the D string, strange and annoying!
