I found what seemed to be a really clean, all original except for a refret, '64 Special on fleeBay. The auction started and ended at $3k and I encouraged a buddy to follow and buy it. He did and brought it over today for me to play. It's SUCH a GREAT guitar. It has the bigger neck, meaning not slim, the refret job was done very well, it plays like butter and best of all it's such a great sounding guitar.

It's great to see there are still great sounding deal Specials out there. I am glad I didn't get to play it before it sold...I would have bought it and my wife would have KILLED me. I have several of these and she doesn't understand that they are all different!!!

So what's the point? SG Specials and Jrs are the bargains of the vintage world. It's just insane that this guitar was sold for $3k. There are others for $4k and even those are are bargains compared to LPs and after 25 years of collecting I just don't get it. But I am glad of it!!!

I just bought a 1964 Special on ebay as well for $700!!!!!! Nothing is original except the wood but there are NO cracks or breaks and it arrived in 2 days!!! it needs to be rewired but thats fine with me. it has a super narrow nut width similar to a duo sonic A width neck.
