I traded my white MIM Strat for a Green MIM Jazz Bass.

I've been playing guitar for nine years now, but have no real experience with Basses. I have questions.

On guitar, I love the classic, fuzzy sounding tone with the bass and treble low and the mids high. What are the settings I should dial in to get the classic, fuzzy bass sound? I know this varies with one's equipment, I just need a good starting place. I have a Line 6 Flextone Duo guitar amp.

What are the best ways to execute "pops" and "slaps"?

What is the best way to go about finger picking?

Fingers are the only 'pick' you need for a bass. You need a bass amp, also. Don't get a little puny one, either. Get 120 watts or bigger, or you will not get the 'big' sound basses are good at.
I have a MIJ Fender Precision Sting Bass. I roll the tone WAY down, to get a muted 'thump'!

Nice, I've always wanted a bass, but don't want to buy a really cheap one, and don't want to save up for a decent one. >.<

Hey, I'm in the same situation as you since my Little bro just got a bass.

Join the Bass Players social group!

I have no idea how to play but I'm looking for websites with good lessons, I'll post again if I find anything!
The only thing I can play so far is Ramble On which I did by ear.
Ooo yeah, and smoke on the water :D

I actually started on bass and moved to guitar and I have to agree with Dennis, you have to have a good amp! It's crucial.

I should post pics of my fretless 76 Rickenbacker sometime :thumb:
