Avatar speakers usually has the best pricing, though they don't publish it.

Used on eBay. I got great prices for used V30's, CL80's and Creambacks. I see no reason to buy new.

The Hellatone are a broken in v30s. I have bought a Avatar 45, a cab, and speakers from them in the past. Talk to Dave, he is the owner. Best company I have ever dealt with! The Avatar 45 rocks!

Am I correct that there are now celestions built in China? I thought I remember reading that here somewhere. If so how can I tell if the speakers I am looking at are made in China, or England? On the older ones it clearly said they were made in england, but on the newer ones I notice it just says celestion international.

I believe that all celestion speakers are made in China, unless you go with the Heritage series.

So now the million dollar question. Is there any real tonal difference between the Chinese made and England made?

It's an old trick that always works.

I just locally sold an empty recto cab because of this; broken in British V30's for cheap. I did the same thing last year with some oddball vocal monitors from the 80's; original EVM12L's for $25 each. :thumb:

Yea I saw a few different cabs used that were loaded with Vintage 30's for around 400. If I could find one a little cheaper that would be the route I would take. Right now I could order brand new Hellatone V30's already broken in, for 436.00 So I may take that route.

Parting out a recto cab and re-selling what I didn't want...(bought the cab for $400, sold the empty cab for $250 and a pair of V30's for $150)...I'm into my pair of broken-in British V30's for $10 each since it took $20 of gas to get the cab.

How many are you looking for and what ohm-age?

I just bought a 1x12 cab loaded with a 8 ohm V30 for $120 including shipping from Thomann in Germany. That's a hell of a deal for a 1x12 and a V30.

I don't know, the clips on their site were very blah. I would have to hear some better clips.

I just got an education on V30's from my post looking at an Avatar 2x12 with Marshall speakers.

Links to lots of info that would be good to know if you plan to cannabilize a a cabinet to source your V30's.

Marshall Branded Celestions? - MarshallForum.com

I almost let the forum talk me out of the cab I was looking at but decided to go check it out and am thrilled. The cab is near mint and the 1987 or so Marshall Vintage speakers in it sound great. In my case the speakers were essentially free as I paid slightly less than an empty Avatar cab before shipping.

there are a few versions of this speaker and each version is called the same thing.
-'vintage', UK made for marshall 1960V or 1936V cabs
-'vintage 30' UK made for mesa
-other chinese made 'vintage 30'

i have the 'vintage' set in one of my marshall cabs and it's just amazing. it's slash's speaker of choice too. i tried the other celestion loaded standard marsgall cabs (G12T-75 and greenbacks) and the vintage does it all.

It's pretty weird how in any Celestion thread, there's one person who comes on and proclaims WGS as the best.

There's a thread just like this on tdpri right now.

Same dude...? :hmm: :laugh2:
