Hey, I think I'm going to but the Tokai LS95 model eventually.
I just have two questions before I do so:
1. What are the differences between the LS95 and the LS125?
Only about the sounds specs. I don't care about the cosmetic stuff.
What are the differences with the woods, electronics, pickups, etc... all the things that influence the sound.

2. Are there any differences between quilted top and flame top?
AGAIN - only of sound specs. Don't care about the look and cosmetic.

I'm going to buy from him:

Tokai LS 95 Q CS Made in Japan New ! - eBay (item 200445654855 end time Mar-07-10 12:03:22 PST)

Looks OK to you?

Better bridge/tailpiece on the 125/140?

poly (on the 95/98) vs lacquer finish (125/140)?

Spend the extra money and get the 150 (now the 160).

Both 2 piece maple top with a different veneer irrc, both single mahogany back, both medium tenon, both chunky necks, both PAF-Vintage MK2×2(Made In Japan) pups . both great. :)

Not much difference I think, apart from the 125 has a laquer finish, the 95 will have a thinly applied poly finish.

There really isnt much more than a hairs difference in sound between the models you describe soundwise. I have a 2005 ls95 q now ls 100q and I've ab'd against a gibson re issue goldtop the through the same amp and settings and it sounded exactly like the gibson.

I can buy the LS125 but not the LS150.
What do you think about the LS125? and what the difference between that and the LS135?
I am really confused.
Here is it:
Tokai LS 125 Violin Finish Made in Japan New ! - eBay (item 200445655856 end time Mar-07-10 12:05:23 PST)

It's a beautiful guitar, my favourite colour....but I can tell you that an LS95F will look identical, also has MK2 pickups, and plays like a dream.
With this LS125 you're paying the extra money for an aluminium tailpiece, brass saddles, deep joint instead of medium, and a nitro finish.

There's no difference between a quilt top and a flame top, identical guitars.

I have an LS95F and it's my favourite guitar (along with my Ibanez AS200 Artist) if that's any help.

OK! Thanks for the help! I understand the differences quite bit. But still wondering if buy the LS95 or add 300$ for the LS125, though.

My advice, get the 125 (140). If you've actually got the funds, go for it. The "nitro" and long tenon are stuff you get on high end Gibsons, for a fraction of the price. You will not be able to "redo" these upgrades on the 95 (98) later for the price you spend now.

If you decide to sell the 125 later down the road (unlikely once you get it) you have major selling points in your favor. Unless you can only afford one guitar at a time, and you absolutely have to get a LS-420 later. :)

The 95 (98) is a bargain, considering at this price you get a Gibson Studio for the same price.

Good luck, you can't go wrong with either one. Nice price on the ebay 95Q.

I still say get the 125.

I'm not really thinking of selling the guitar.
And the LS125 has a medium tenon and not a long one.
You can look at the description's item in the eBay link I shared.

A question on maple top of LS 95 VF. Is it a real flamed maple top or is it a plain top with flamed stuck on?

The veneer doesn't make a difference, though.
There's still a real maple cap underneath it.

The first thing you have to know is that the model names change when the price changes. So the LS125F is now an LS140F (check the specs on the Tokai site) and the LS95F is not the LS98F (check the specs on the Tokai site).

AFAIK, and as CrazyD says it has a different type of composite body, nitro finish, longer tenon, different veneer, better bridge and tailpiece.

Whether it's worth it? The LS95F is a pretty good guitar already.

I have an LS150 with an upgraded flame maple top. I say at least get the ls135 for the upgraded tenon and parts. Plus in my research I thought I ran across some info about the woods on the higher end models being nicer. I don't know for sure but the 135 might be a one piece back and not a two.

Go to the Tokai registery page and learn all you can.
