A big thank you to Hardcore Troubadour for forwarding me this set of tuning screws for a TP6 tailpiece. I couldn't find a set of originals in Europe or the USA. This repro set is sold on eBay for 7 dollar USD by seller 'hoockey' who doesn't sell and ship outside of the USA. The tuning screws are handmade (plated black brass). The knurling is excellent.

When I bought my 81 Custom 25 years ago it was missing these tuning screws. I replaced the TP6 with a cheap zinc one from Allparts some 15 years ago. Recently I thought it would be nice (and very handy) to have a properly functioning TP6 tailpiece, i.e. having the ability to quickly fine tune.

Now, I'm not going full Norlin because I'm very happy with my Faber locking abr bridge and the accompanying Faber iNserts. I have the original Nashville bidge but the saddles are badly worn and I really am not impressed by the fit with the Nashville bushings... so much slop.

Tomorrow I'll weigh the TP6, the Allparts zinc stop tailpiece and an aluminum one from Faber. It's late and I have no time to fit the TP6, clean the fretboard and put on new strings.

Faber aluminium TP: 34 grams
Allparts zinc/diecast TP: 76 grams
Gibson TP6: 127 grams

It's a chunky bit of kit but it works like a charm. Can't notice a change in sound to the Allparts TP. In terms of looks I suppose it's not for everyone.

Fine tuners are fantastic. I have them on my Kahler and I love being able to make micro adjustments on the fly.

While we are discussing bad taste on LPC try adding a brass nut and a switch on the top in between the other knobs like I did back in the great fashion era of the 80’s
I had a JB in the bridge as well but yanked it after a short while thank god

I have to agree.... the quickest way to add mass is plutonium or a harmonica bridge..... 14 pound customs are close enough to cause the black hole syndrome..... :hyper:
Ha, yep my ‘72 was a heavy mofo
