So, here we go...
I'm playing a Blues Junior III with a Rola g12-80 in it now for about 2 years. It's small, playing with my band it's really important that I position it correctly, connecting a 212 cabinet to it does wonders. So, I'm really doubting about its small cabinet, cause its so easy to handle because of it's small size but I guess I'm experiencing the "boxy" stuff...

Until now it served me well, I like to run my amps on the edge of break up. So I need clean, and I need band level clean. The BJr has cut it until now, but I'm worrying it might not be enough always.

So.... off course, probably like a lot of other forum members, I'm a GASmonkey. I'm gassing for an extra Fender amp. I really like playing in stereo. And adding a second combo would be great for spreading the sound. 112, 212.... Tweed Deluxe, Deluxe Reverb, maaayybe a VOX.... I've got a stereo tremolo from EHX to split the signal.

What I really like: chimey cleans, thunderous drive/Fuzz. Cleans: think American Cleans, drive: Think Neill Young, or Triggerfinger ([ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zvD_hM4NOs]Triggerfinger Lowlands 2012 - YouTube[/ame] great belgian band, main gear used: tele's, Gretsch, overdriver colorsound, victoria tweed twins, hiwatt).

The Blues Junior does nice cleans, good Drive, but with my beloved Fuzz pedals... it doesnt quite get that Thunderous sound the guys I Mentioned above have.

So, what to do? Go bigger?(a wise choice: more clean headroom then the BJr, heavier..?) Add another combo ( I like to drive the amp hard): Tweed deluxe (I would love to build a kit)....

Does anyone get this dilemma...?

Eternal Props to those who can help me :)

Current gear:

HomeMade Telecaster
91 Sheraton II Epiphone

Hendrix Wah
Fuzz FAce
TS9
TS5
Colorsound Overdriver clone
Carl Martin Delayla

I don't know your price range but for chimey cleans I would have to go with a VOX AC15 or AC30.

I have tried a ac15c1 once, liked it. Heavy, but nice. Heard it clean, its tremolo and some overdriver. BUT, I've heard stories and seen the inside of those new voxes... those pcb's and PC style wires seem flimsy... mylespaul is full of great reviews about the ac15, but I'm not entirely sure... How are they reliability wise? And how does it do those Huge Fuzz sounds?

Budget wise, nothing I can't work for. BUT I'm going to college, so I hope I will get there under a grand. (EUR)

I know they're big and heavy but for the sound you're after an AC30 sounds spot on. They are an extremely versatile amp IMO.

You might want to check out either the blues deluxe or hot rod deluxe 3.both are 40 tube watts with plenty of headroom . I like using pedals for my dirt. The or chans of those amps are decent though, but the cleans are really good. Personally I would keep the blues jr. It's nice to have a smaller amp for those situations where you need it.

I've never actually tried an AC30. They are a bit mythical to me... I guess I have to check out those new ac30c2's soon. Or am I better off looking for an older model?

Blues Deluxe, never tried it. Fender advertisement says it's trying to be a modern take on the tweed amps of the early days, is it anything like that?

Hot Rod deluxe III I have heard! OD channel I didn't like, clean was pretty nice, a bit boomy ... maybe the speaker has to be broken in... it was a completely new stock HrDLX

How are those last 2, fenders, with fuzz pedals?

Both take pedals really well. I dont buy an amp based on its OD channel, so it has to take pedals rather well. I had a 59 bassman and a Blues DX. I would say the circuitry is kinda like the tweed circuitry in the sense that it has good mids , but nothing beats a good bassman. If you are looking for chimey Fender cleans a blackface might be more to your liking.

The HotRods are a little bit boomy. When I use them I have the bass rolled down to 2 or 3.

Too bad.. I like turning the bass up a bit when using single coils....

To try: Blues Dlx and a Vox AC30. Thx so far!

Seems like you are mostly pleased with your Jr, have you considered hopping it up? May be some new caps and a new cabinet are all you need. A few mods and an extra speaker would really open things up.

I have thought about this! But then the question remains if the BJr has enough headroom... An extra speaker gives it a bit more spread... At the moment I have an old Rola G12-80 in it, I do not know it's efficiency... More Efficient speakers can do wonders so I have read?

I have been through a bunch of amps, it sure is hard to find one that does it all. I sold my jr. when I was on an "acoustic" tear. I regret that decision now. I have been strongly thinking about picking up a used one and doing this mod to it: Fender Blues Jr Junior Supreme Mod Kit MIM Amps 717669052621 | eBay
A new cabinet and a couple of nice custom speakers, think it would be pretty sweet. Like stated in a previous post, 15 watts pushing those tubes into some nice fender tone.
