Hey guys,

Posting onto this forum to to get some insight on a trade I’ve been thinking on for a few days now. I’m in the US and this guy has this 2000 Yamano LP sparkle Dealer Select priced at $5250. Has anyone ever played these. Part of me thinks it’s a standard with just a nice top on it. I don’t believe this guitar is a CS because of no paperwork and no back label. But, I cannot read Japanese unfortunately. From what I’ve understood is that Yamano hand picked this guitars to be sold in Japan for a pretty penny because of their tops? Is this true. I just want to make sure this guy isn’t trying to talk this guitar up for the price. If you guys are familiar w Boutique guitars he wants my 2019 Rock n roll relics Lightning , a 2009 K Line strat, and a telecaster project that I’ve been working on….

Any advice would be great. I miss my old Nash goldtop LP conversion. And have really been looking for a Les Paul goldtop. The sparkle is a little flashy but I do have really close ties with my RnR. If it’s just a flashy standard and nothing special about it I’m steering away from it. Anyone play these Yamanos?

Thanks I’m advance!

Welcome to the forum:cheers:

Sorry i can't help with your questions on this particular instrument,... but i will say that it is one beautiful guitar.

It seems overpriced a bit and most sellers have "story" to go with their item,... Yamano and the reputation for their tops usually relates to flamed maple not solid colors. Though special orders for Japan will often have better quality finishes and special features such as pickups. I'm not familiar with this guitar but someone here might.

It looks like there’s a made in USA below the serial number, I’m gonna take a wild stab in the dark and say it’s probably a USA line Les Paul, standard, traditional, etc.

It’s a unique guitar, but I personally think it’s priced at least $2000 too high…maybe closer to $2500 too high.

He’s asking new R7 money.

I wouldn’t do the trade even for the RnR relic and the k-line alone.

Thank you much sir! Yeah I really thought it was just a flashy standard. I would love a new R7 if someone near me was selling them!

Thanks! Yeah the price just seems a little out of touch for a standard. It it’s a beautiful top on it. But the asking price for the trades seems a tad bit out there.
