Why don't they just call them Chibsons? Everybody knows they're fake.
It's unfortunate that they're getting so close in appearance. It's really pretty easy for the casual fan to get duped. I've seen a few on my local Kijiji (canada's craigslist lol) where the seller is actually trying to sell it as a Gibson, but most of them declare it to be a Gibson Copy which is as good or better than a real Gibson. It's pretty sad. You usually can tell from the ad text as easily as the pictures.
I agree and buying one is just unpatriotic too.If China was any good at making guitars, they would not have to use the Gibson name.
Like relic owners, they will make excuses all day as to why the have one.
There are some fine guitars coming out of China under the names Ibanez, Epiphone, and more.
Apparently. This particuar "Chibby Chaser" said the following:
... Personally i could care less...
.If China was any good at making guitars, they would not have to use the Gibson name.
Right. Because a billion and a half Chinese all build guitars of exactly the same quality level. Meanwhile, there have never been any crap American guitar companies.....
The Chinese have been producing superlative craftsmanship in wood for 5000 years. The fact that Uncle Fang's Cheapo Knockoff Shop produces garbage says nothing about the ability of the rest of the country.
It's funny, I'm old enough to remember when people said the same thing about Japanese-made goods: "cheap Jap junk."
Everybody knows they're fake.
Yep, my first electric and still main guitar used to get the guffaws for being 'crap' based on geography and blind ignorance. At the time, 'only American hands' could make a good guitar. This, despite a centuries old Japanese tradition of crafting ornate and complex stringed instruments as well as producing electronics that were the envy of the world.

Firewood, and not even good long burning firewood.
Nope.
More like comparing Steak and Lobster to dog turd.
