Gibson SG Junior Identification Help

Hi there,

I've got an eye on a beautiful 60's SG Junior, but the seller is not 100% of the year it was made. I've got some pics and a serial number so I'd appreciate if anyone could help on this one!

He also says the nut width is 1 9/16 which I believe must be post-1965, but the pots (that may have been changed for some reason) are dated from 1961 (number 134 61 20).

Serial number is 26812.

I think those were actually called a Les Paul Jr.

That's what I thought too, but you can see on the picture the "Les Paul" writing on the headstock is missing, and I think they wrote Les Paul from '61 to '63 ?

Slanted bridge is ended in mid '62. The Les Paul Junior script probably wore off over the years, as it was screen printed OVER the finish.

SN# is a 1961. The pot codes would be on the side of the pot. (which you say are 134 61 20)..so mid '61 is a safe bet.

I'd remeasure the nut width...

Not an expert here , ... but is that the correct font type and size for the serial number ?
