Gibson Rs on eBay - Noob question

You keep hearing of guys getting R9s of eBay for around $3,000 US...even less.
Why is it I can never find any. Am I not using the right search words?
All the ones that ever pop up for me are 2005 or newer and all are close to $4,000.
I never find any from around 1996 - 2000.
Why is that?

Again, NOOB questions. I'm not an eBay pro.

Maybe you're looking at the ones with the Buy-It-Now (BIN) price? Auctions are where the deals are to be found. Also try sending a message to the seller and offer a price.

Stonesy, that's strange...the two you posted didn't come up for me when I search.
I think I found the root of the problem (maybe I'm wrong here) but I think it's because I've been using eBay.ca, not eBay.com. I tried eBay.com and a few more popped up that I hadn't seen before.
