I searched for a long time for the best set of new pickups for my Les Paul. I settled on the Seymour Duncan Whole Lotta Humbuckers. Make sure you have 500K pots. To me, Gibson does make good pickups and I understand why someone would want to keep all Gibson parts on their guitar. I am partial to Gibson T-Top humbuckers from the early 70’s. I would like to see Gibson Custombuckers sold separately.

2022 Epiphone pickups sound better than 2010, when this thread was happening.

If that is so to you, I'd bet anything you didn't bother adjusting their height. Epiphone P90s are stellar, as good as any.
I actually did adjust the poles and the height. I guess they were duds. Yeah, I noticed it was an old thread after I posted on it. The hot Duncan P-90's sound better IMHO.
Yeah, Some of the Epi Pickups are Stellar! Absolutely! But I don't use that much gain. They probably sound great with 1 meg pots, though.
Epiphone is Awesome these days and back then.
Equal to or Better than Gibson, I think. The woodwork is great! Just need to upgrade the electronics sometimes.
