What are the difference in logo's? My 89 standard has the o connected with the n up high. But on most gibsons I see it's connected low. Like this.

What's up with that?

Here's two font styles. The left is an Antique (not the vintage) Mahogany Classic with the old scroll type "Gibson" and the guitar on the right is an Antique Classic.

I dont think that's what lampens is refering too.
This has something to do with date, I think.
The "o" on some is attached to the "n" at the bottom of the "n"
and some the "o" is attached at the top of the "n", more like cursive type, but
the letter's are no different (not really cursive)

But there's also a 99.9% chance I'm completely wrong:eek2:

Then again, even the 's' and 'o' is distinctive as well as the 'b' and 's'--

Gibsons script on the headstock has had subtle changes for years! No big deal. You could have four LPs from different eras and have four slightly different scripts on headstock. There are even some with no dot over the i.

Yeah longbeach, that's what I'm reffering too lol. Haven't seen any other gibson with the logo like that, maybe it was a monday morning special lol. It's indeed the same type of lettering, as with the other logo's, just the o and the n connected different.
While I'm at it, I'll just show you some crappy nokia pictures of my baby.
The pictures don't do it justice. It's ebony offcourse with a nicely yellow aged binding.

Wow, never noticed that. My '87 and '88 Customs have the O_N connected down low and my '89 Studio has them connected high. None of them have the "O" split at top.

Thanks for pointing that out.

Ah Ha! I'm not crazy after all. I had seen that way back when, and it
never really struck me until you brought it up.

Nice ebony Standard. No worries on the pics, I just recently got over
a 10 year run with disposables & got a digital. Dont really know how to use
it, too many buttons & stuff?

Here's two font styles.

that's the one!
I wanted that GOTW... just because of the scroll logo !

Gibson should put that on some more guitars.
Mandolins are too expensive

I like the scroll logo as well. Looks classy, kinda like something
set for a Jazz guitar, or really nice semi-hollow body.

From my book, 50 years of the Gibson Les Paul:

From c1952 to c1968 the dot of the "i" in Gibson was not joined to the "G", and the "b" and "o" were not continuously solid.

From c1968 the "i" lost its dot, and the "b" and "o" became continuously solid.

In 1972 the dotted "i" appeared again, but then came and went with confusing irregularity until c1981.

From 1981 the "o" and "n" were linked at the top, and not at the bottom as usual. However, the usual style was soon reintroduced, and the two versions have been used ever since.
