Ok i have questions mine is supposed to be a 94. Bur the serial number starts with 90? No I or anything just 90..
Did I get screwed on a fake lp?
I thought mine was a '93 because the serial number starts with 93, then I read that the year in the serial number is a combo of the first and fifth number 1&5 = 95 and there is a Les Paul serial number checker here:

However, I opened the pickup cavity and it definitely says "Checked on Dec 9, 1993" The pictures are above in post 175. I would appreciate some clarification, also.

Oh Shoot, never mind, I just realized the 5th number in my serial number is a 3. The glare made it look like a 5.

First for numbers are 9086 , so a 96?
Wich would make it a mid 90's and in the middle of the "good wood " era ?

.....i think I figured it out that it's a 96 actually as the first four numbers are 9086 , so based on the information I looked up and a few responses on her seems even the guy who owned it before me didnt know the year .....now I almost feel like dating his SG and his double neck SG for him wich are supposed to be 70/72 ....there awsome , a bit dirty but awsome.

9 is the year..... 086 is the 86 day of a 365 day year.... one more number past that 6..... that number will finish the year. ;)

Just for your information those numbers in between 1st and 5th number should never exceed 365 unless it’s a leap year.

finally lol .
I kinda felt dumb after i figured it out because ive been trying to for like 2 days , but in my defense it was sorta a back burner thing since I'm kinda also dealing with personal drama ( my girlfriend hates my guitar and thinks its pointless and I should just sell it, actually through it across our room yesterday luckily it was locked in its case and didnt do anything other thunder ad a scuff to the case) .

Unless it’s a 1994.... then the first two digits will represent the year on most models as this was 100th year anniversary and they changed up the serial format like they did in 2014 for the 120th anniversary.

Then back to the old format in 1995.

Again, BAD ASS!! Also the hated inlay in and holographic image in '14 (which for that year only, I thought looked kinda cool)
