I got offered a Gibson Les Paul Custom Lite in white from 87 or 88, as a trade for a 03 black Gibson SG Standard.
But the thing is that it doesn't have binding on the body, only on the neck and headstock, it also has the mother of pearl block inlays and the diamond inlay.
I've tried to researched a white one without binding on the body with no luck, is that a red flag?
Any advice or information would be so much appreciated

A Gibson Custom Lite, from any year, must have binding on the entire front of the guitar; headstock, neck and top of the body. Binding isn't present on the back, due the thinner body;

This is from 1987

This is from 2016

Are you sure the white binding isn't kind of hidden in the white top? Maybe crappy pictures?

If you post some pic over here, we can give you better opinions. :)

Thank you so much for your help full knowledge.
I know the lite models doesn't have the back binding, but was very really scratching my head since it did have binding on the front of the body.
I'll post a picture of it :)

Do you have a picture of the back? Do you have a closer picture of that top?

Neck is compliant with a 1987 Custom neck. Body can be everything really. Need more pictures of the back, the sides and details on the edges, could be they oversprayed everything as it's clearly a customized guitar. Yeah, more pics and better quality. These are terrible. :)

I asked him for the more pic's of the back and some close up's, and hopefully I have nothing to worry about.
But isn't it a lot of work to put a gibson neck on a fake body? In my mind that just seem more work for a fake, you know

I don't think it's a fake, at all. Neck and headstock are looking totally right for an end '80 Gibson Les Paul Custom.

The new pictures will tell us more.

Body is right for a Lite too, and looks indeed there is no binding, which at this point make this guitar something I never seen before. Case seems also original for that year.

Dunno man, unless it’s a super deal, I‘d pass. I wouldnt personally pay more than 900/1000$ for this thing. Plenty of better lites are out there if you want one. Also, no offence to the author, but that paint it’s really tacky.

Good luck. :)

Thank you so much for helping and giving me your input.
You're right, the paint job is tacky as hell, I did ask him if he painted it but he told me it was some guy Jim O'Connor or James.
I'm gonna trade it for my SG, don't think I can do better with a SG with 2 headstock breaks lol!
