Hi guys!
I apologise if I`m putting this in the wrong forum/thread. Please advice me if I making this wrong.

I`m about to buy a second hand Gibson Les Paul 61 CS that according to the seller supposedly are made in 2010. But I`m not sure. Serial number is 000262 (or 000282), and I find that a bit strange for a 2010, but I might be wrong though. No CS in the serial number either. Makes me wonder if this is a fake?

What you guys make of this? Does the guitar look legit?

I would say yes.... the crown inlay is in it's proper location for a reissue.... and the logo looks right.

Everything looks correct.

But i would agree the serial looks wonky.

Serial number looks fine.

With Custom Shop SG, I have seen serial number stamps with both versions, either as ink stamped with "CS" prefix or debossed into the wood without "CS" prefix like regular production models.

Serial number indicates that is a 2000 model, not 2010.

The ink stamp serial numbers with "CS" prefix are Custom Shop regular production models.
I had a 2001 SG Standard Korina with the CSYRRRR ink stamp format.
Those also have the Custom Shop Logo silkscreen where a volute would be.

For reference, link below has a 2000 model listed with correct year.

Pics are a bit fuzzy but I don’t see nibs on the fret ends?

I never use nibs or lack of as an indicator of authenticity on a second hand guitar, especially if older model since there is always the possibility of a re-fret.
Been looking into it. The guitar was refretted 2-3 years ago by a professional guitar tech. I been in touch with the guitar tech today, and he confirm the fretjob. He also said theres no doubt the guitar is a legit Gibson Custom Shop. So I`m pretty calm on this matter now.

That serial number is correct for a 2010. 00 is reused every 10 years. My 2010 68RI Les Paul also begins with 00. Reissues don't have CS serial number.
