Hi All,
I came across an example of a "Gibson Les Paul 50th anniversary 1960 reissue version 3" for sale. I've read/searched through the tons of posts and with all the Gibson historics/re-issues/etc I still have some questions. Hopefully the collective here can answer them.

It's described by the seller as having "50th anniversary special gold book COA, mint condition". It is cherry sunburst with reflector knobs.

The serial number is "0 03XX". Supposedly one of only 500 made. Sound right?

Is this what's known as a R0?

Is there ANY weight relief to the body? Or is it solid, unmolested mahogany?

What's the going price for these?

TIA.

Another thing you may not have thought about is the V3 Neck.

The size on these is ~ 0.79" at first fret, so this is effectively a skinny Neck as far as Historics go.

Gibson did the '60 in a V1 (~ 0.89"), V2 (~ 0.84") & V3 (~ 0.79")..............all different Neck sizes.

Good luck.

:cheers2:

I used to own a 50th Ann R0 V2 and it was a beautiful instrument. I ended up selling it because the neck was a tad too slim for my tastes, especially after I got used to my R7 & R8. If in great shape I would think you'd expect to pay at least 3500 minimum unless the seller is a desperate idiot who's over reached their financial limitations.

If it's in mint condition, expect to pay more than $3500 for a 50th anniversary model. I'd think more like $4,000-4,500. But who knows.

The V3 neck @ the 1st fret can run anywhere from about .790 -.820 ~ on average . Around ~ .800 is the standard given by Gibson .
I've seen the 50th.Anni versions 2 & 3 go for 3,500 to 5,000 ~ . Depends on the seller ,buyer and guitar . Condition is everything ,right after the top

Keep in mind , the 500 pcs made is a total of all 3 versions . So less then that 500 are V3's . About 1/3 of the 500 for each version was made .
V3....... My favorite neck that Gibson makes .
