Thanks R9.

I still have query so the listed two guitars as 1959 Reissue, are they R9?
A) Gibson Les Paul 1959 Reissue - eBay (item 270439681347 end time Aug-17-09 22:00:00 PDT)
The seller claims in his item description as R9........IS IT REAL R9....as the serial number is not visible.........I have very little knowledge about R9, it should start the Serial number with 9 xxxx....PS correct me if I am wrong.

B)1986 GIBSON LES PAUL 1959 REISSUE - NO RESERVE - eBay (item 280382980591 end time Aug-15-09 13:58:11 PDT)
Is this R9?
I see the serial number starting with number 6 xxxxx

SECOND QUERY:
Gibson Custom Shop R9 Les Paul flame top 59 re-issue
Gibson Custom Shop R9 Les Paul flame top 59 re-issue - eBay (item 190327525952 end time Aug-16-09 17:14:57 PDT)
Is this a real R9? I cannot view the serial number.

They look real to me.
Serial numbers - yes, R9s have 9 xxx or 9xxxx serial numbers.
The '86 - like the description says, it's a pre-historic. I don't know squat about those.

By the way, this section of the forum is for historic reissues. You'll get more answers if you post your questions here. Historics & Reissues - My Les Paul Forums

The 2009 necks have less "shoulder" making them more vintage correct. Don't think they are any slimmer though.
