My collection's not very big at the moment, but I am very happy with what I've got:

Custom Shop SG Standard VOS, Memphis ES-335 1963RI, Memphis ES-330 1959RI.

I hear that a lot, problem is that I dont like P90 pickups. When I want some single coil sound I grab a tele or my Reverend Buckshot.

"...the daughter has been playing since she was 7...."
"My baby a couple years ago on the Les Paul...."
"And her again with most of her collection...."
Isn't it the greatest when the kids take it up? My youngest is far better than I ever was or will be; I hate the little shit..er, I mean, I'm so proud of him!

lol.. Yes it is.. I started when I was 14, so she has a huge head start on my start. I miss playing. I "pluck" around, but can't really play well anymore because of arthritis, but I'm fine with it, enjoying still living it by supporting her in it. She plays in a band as well as lead vocals. She's the youngest in the band (the guys are 18-24), and they all are envious of her collection and ability at her age, lol.. I am proud of the little schit.. lol..

I'm just starting my new Gibson collection, the first one included:
1976 Firebird
1978 LP Recording
1979 Flying V2
1980 Explorer E2
1981 LP Custom
Along with a handful of other non-Gibbys

All sold off by 1988 due to having to grow up and give up on the dream of making a living with the guitar. Years working on the road and overseas made keeping a guitar/amp collection too tough but now 25 years later I've discovered playing again and starting a new collection.
So far: V98, Reverse V x2 (Vs and Explorers always my favorites)

Nice one!!! I must have missed the NGD thread. What's the deal on the 52?? :thumb:

The top was refinished natural but with some kind of glaze or a real bad nitro finish. Otherwise it's original with no breaks or repairs. I did replace the neck tone knob with a period correct vintage knob. It weighs 8.5 lbs and it has a great neck that's kind of a rounded v shape. Not like the Fender V shape but definitely different from any LP that I've ever played. It is comfortable though.

I played it last night and it SCREAMED with huge sustain. As a matter of fact it's probably still resonating! One of my vintage dealer buddies told me the pickups are set deeper into the body and they really resonate. But it also has really great tone.

I am getting it refretted and putting a mojoaxe trap tail on it so that I can palm mute it.

Nice! I kind of did the same thing. I collected when I was younger but sold off most of my vintage gear. I got back into it about 8 years ago when I could afford collecting again. But the difference is now I am buying player guitars.

Thanks OBX351. Yeah, I'm sure my story is a common one and like everyone that sold off their old treasures I wish I still had the guitars and not just a few fuzzy Kodak 110 Insta-matic photos.

The bad thing is out of a dozen guitars I kept one electric from back then (1984 Charvel Strat) and it was the most valuable of the bunch at the time and the least valuable today.

Anyway, it is fun to be back to playing and collecting.
