I received the new Musician's Friend catalog in the mail and noticed they are now selling Gibson replacement parts (wireless ABRs, poker chips, etc) and they have a twin pack of their Bumblebees for the low price of... $112.99. I sure hope that's a misprint.

Let's see...

[ (Custom shop item factor) + (Luxe Bumbleblee price) ] * (Gibson brand name factor)^2 = $112.99

Nope, according to the totally made up formula, that is correctly overpriced.

Gibson's bumblebees are actually cheap capacitators wrapped in that black plastic shell of a Bumblebee. There was a thread on this a while ago. Wouldn't be worth it if they cost 10 bucks imho.

Total rip-off in my book. Orange drops are a better deal than those by far and I'd go for Luxe repros before spending that on fake bees. Find some Russian PIO's for that matter an enjoy real tone! They would have to sound more like real bees than what Gibson is peddling!!! :dude:

You can get real Bumblebees for less money depending on the uF value, talk to Jonesy in that case (jonesyblues@yahoo.com)

I saw that too, they raised their prices again, big shocker there. They want $23 for a set of nickel pointers. I just ordered a set off ebay for $8 shipped. I love you Gibson but damn......

Crazy. They look, perform and sound like the originals the ad says. They just aren't "built" like the originals. They sure have a way with words. I feel sorry for the poor suckers that buy these thinkin they're something they're not. C'mon Gibson- Say it like it is !! It also seems they raised the price on everthing, pickups too

Around a year ago, I recieved 2 NOS PIO caps- a Q and a Gudeman- from Jonesy. You know how much that cost? Around $30. :laugh2:

If I can get real PIO capacitors for $80 less than what Gibson is charging... that's quite pathetic on Gibson's part.

Thank God I have Jonsey's Spragues in all of mine. I noticed in the MF catalog, even Gibson's tee shirts are like $8 more than Marshall and Fender's. Everybody drop your drawers for Gibson, here comes official Gibson toilet paper...
