when the fuck are we going to put our big boy pants on and get shit done already? Don't even get me started on computer chips stuff, I'm talking about food and treats for my kitty. I've been barely able to find any of the prescription diet stuff my cat needs. Why? The manufacturer didn't have cans to put the food in. I haven't been able to get any of his treats in 2 months. Why? I'd bet a dollar that there aren't any bags to put them in. We're not talking about chips to finish a car, computer or cell phone. Containers, simple fucking containers. This isn't goddam rocket science. WTF??

Had to vent. I'm already rationing his treats, about to open the last bag soon.

What daily essentials are you unable to get because of this shit?

I'm tried of it, too.

The pet stuff is particularly upsetting. My cats were also on a prescription diet due to one having urine crystals and I was having a heck of a time getting it while he was still alive. And now it seems like all the pet foods are hard to get here and there. Or for some reason the shipping is taking forever. My dog's food just took 10 days to get here from California. All of my bird foods I've had to track down and/or wait for them to come back in stock lately.

I remember reading stories about life in Russia when I was a kid.

Same thing: empty shelves, shortages of everything needed to make products, out of control inflation.

The workers had quotas to meet. They would meet the quota and screw off the rest of the day. All the while led by some gangster thug and his cronies. Skimming their 10-10.0000021 % off the top!

We have become what we had nightmares about.

To summarize: Nobody gives a shit anymore, as long as they got theirs.

Our little asshole eats prescription food, too. It's been a royal PITA to obtain. My wife's daily routine is to scour the internet for it, every day. When she finds it, she buys it. Those days are far between. We have been trying to keep a 90 day buffer since the beginning of the plague.

The whole thing pisses me off, and I cannot help but to believe - at this point in the proceedings - that it's just a matter of (some, but not all, Pete) of the little fucking millennials and gen-z's getting out of bed and going back to fucking work. It baffles my mind how they can go so long without working.

The worm has to turn on this one.

It baffles my mind too. They all seem to have nice cars too and to shop and eat out all the time. They can't all have rich parents, right?

People snicker and make fun of "influencers". But they don't need millions of followers like you'd think to be succesful. You get 10,000 people to give you $5 a month and you are making $600k a year. I think more people are doing that than people realize. Think of a Youtube channel that only has 10k followers. That's small potatoes in that realm. But you do that and get a following to go to Patreon or OnlyFans or whatever and the relatively small number of followers can translate to a lot of money. I've watched the chat on a live Youtube stream and people constantly "donate" to the streamer. I think there are a lot more people out there making money that way than people realize.

Off the top of my head...

Chewy
Pet Smart
Pet Warehouse
Petco
Amazon
Petflow
PetSuppliesPlus

And, then, there are the smaller/regional places.

If you're looking for most prescription foods, they are hard to get, and frequently & for long stretches, out of stock.

Once we find it, it usually comes in a few days. That's never a problem.

So, we just buy them out, every time we find it. Yea, I know - I'm part of the problem.
Oh well.

Could be that.

We did some cyphering and figured out that we could make dog food that was cheaper and better than what you buy from the store. We mix chickpeas, rice, mixed veges (peas, corn, carrots), ground turkey or canned salmon and the dogs love it. The vet says that they're healthy and that what we're feeding them is better for them than "kibble" or whatever you call dry food.

The cats are finicky and will only eat a couple of different kinds of dry food, like Iams. So far, there's been no shortage of Iams.
