A few weeks ago, I got my first Les Paul as a surprise gift from my wife!

It’s a Gibson Les Paul Special from 2020 and it has proven to be the best guitar I’ve ever played!

Not only does it look nice, smell nice and play nice, it sounds amazing as well!

To show some of the versatility of this guitar, I recorded this version of Bold as Love, which is an archetypical Strat song.

Those of you with keen eyes can perhaps spot a Stratocaster lurking in the background?

Would love to hear what you think of this!

Nice skills and playing! And yeah, P-90s can certainly get you into that Fender-ish territory, just with a bit more "oomph" than the fairly low powered pups on a Strat! Good on you for knowing how to use your fingers as well as a pick!

Gorgeous guitar and it sure seems like your wife is a keeper, for sure!

Thanks For Sharon,
Gene

Little more tele than stratty to my ears ans P-90 in a Paul but......really great tone and playing in either case!

Thank you so much guys!
I agree, there is a tiny butterscotch Tele inside this special!

Like your playing and yes a bridge P90 will get you into Tele territory..........a tele on steroids as has been described over the years.

Yepper! And a pair of P-90s, with 4-knob controls is truly a gloruous thing of beauty, when the switch is in the middle position. @wyldelife is obviously aware of this. And yeah, he plays with style! There's a looseness and sloppiness to his playing that makes it feel humanly musical and entertaining.
Ya Gotta Love Style!

Definitely more Tele than Strat to me, but really that's just great Gibson tone! There is a mistaken notion that Les Pauls can't be bright and clear, I don't know where it comes from.

Anyway sounds great, awesome playing as well.

Fantastic tone and playing. I noticed the same thing with my old p90 guitar also. You can hear it here quite well...that fender vibe

Great playing. I have a Special DC, and am amazed by the different tones P90’s can achieve.

Great job.

Yep P90 tone,

Your playing/picking was also a part of getting that Tele/stratish tone.

False advertisement—I was hoping for strat tones from a ‘bucker Paul....

IMO, Tele/Strat tones from a P90 Les Paul ain’t much of a stretch.

That said, great playing!
And a beautiful guitar!

Keep on rocking in the free world brother. ✌

Very nice playing, very nice guitar.
I hear a more or less Tele tone rather than a Strat sound. Anyway, a wonderful tone ....

If I want Fender Tones, I just play through a Fender Amp. Problem solved. :laugh2:

.005 cap is best with Humbuckers for STRAT sounds - and you get to keep the hum canceling too! _ we never use Split coil again, after we tested this bass filter mod!
