To me it has nothing to do with his band or how much he's worth, his comments and his attitude show a complete lack of empathy, to me that is what he lacks and why I not a fan of him as a person. Empathy is an important concept and I think it is lacking in a great many people in our world today. It comes down to the old saying "Walk a mile in another mans shoes" and then maybe you'll understand the why's of life.

Was reading some comments on a FB page that I'm a member of that honors the original KISS road crew and a member was Gene's bass tech for years, and he says that when Gene made the comments back in July that he knew exactly what he was saying. To him it was calculated and that Gene makes comments like this all of the time because of a sense of entitlement and shock value. He also said that Gene as a personal one on one person is pretty much a dick.

That being said, as a man that deals with someone with a mental illness daily, his comments didn't offend me at all. It is what it is and I choose to not let the random rambling of an old rockstar bother me. I also put into consideration the context of why he said it.

Say what you want about the man, but he will probably make more money today in interest alone than the net worth of anybody that has commented in this thread. The man is brilliant at marketing himself and his band, and I am sure that if there was a dollar to be made selling GS tampons, douches, or caskets they would already be available at your nearest retail outlet. I am no KISS fan, but I am no hater either, the proof is in the pudding, love them or hate them, you have to respect what GS and Kiss have acheived. If it was easy, we would all be wealthy rock stars.

It's all about making more money and Marketing and nothing at all about simple human decency or knowing when to NOT talk trash.

For the record, he never made one single penny off me. Even at their supposed "best", I was listening to Van Halen, Kansas, Queen, Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Stones, Sabbath, Eagles, Clash, Fleetwood Mac, Sex Pistols, Clapton, etc etc etc etc etc ETC instead. There were THOUSANDS of performers that were infinitely better. And there still are.

Three years ago, when Shannon Tweed married Gene Simmons, I thought the former playmate would mellow him. In July, it was obvious that old Gene forgot to take his meds, resulting in verbal diarrhea.
