I don't check my email constantly, but whenever I'm at GC I bring it up and search for coupons before hitting the checkout. If I'm going to drive to GC which is about 30 minutes across Orlando I add the item I want to my cart and try the coupon to see if it is applicable.

Last time I was there and bought a Digitech whammy it saved me enough to take the wife out to dinner.

As far as the one day, I'm sure computers have more to do with that than anything else.

Because at the time, I was confident they'd work with me. Also, had they wanted to play ball, they probably would have needed my receipt. Plus i wanted to see if by chance any boards had come in. Sure, in hindsight calling would have saved me 2 hours but at the time it seemed feasible.

It was a 20% coupon on 100 dollar or more purchase. The power unit was 120.00 so I would have saved more than 12 dollars.

And gas is currently averaging 1.85 per gallon here.

It's really more principle than anything else.

Was the power supply advertised at $120? There doesn't seem to be a VL supply at that price point. If the item was already discounted GC is less likely to honor a coupon, if at all.

I'm sorry, but two hours of time lost and even a few bucks spent on gas is not worth it for $12 - $24.

My cell phone is ancient and does not connect me to my email. It only talks, texts, and has a chip that holds 1200 songs. And before anyone comes down on me about being a Luddite, remember what forum we are on:)

It was a Voodoo Lab ISO 5 priced at 109.99 which after sales taxes clocked in about 117.00. I also bought some Schaller Straplocks.

Anyway, I'm not trying to get a boycott og GC going. I'm just venting. As I said before it's the principle, not the money.

Coupon, schmoupon. If you have a smartphone, look up whatever you're buying on Amazon or a known music retailer (I use Amazon because they usually have one seller that's insanely low), and have them price-match. They wanted $19 for a set of gold Dunlop Dual Design straplocks, and they matched Amazon's price of $13.49.

Corporate, from what I've heard, has been putting the screws to the employees. In my scenario above, the salesguy and the manager had smiles on their faces when they were able to lower that price. As much as I rip on Guitar Barn, their saleskids WANT to sell you stuff. Corporate is not letting them work with the customers, but will allow price matching.

Hey, i copped to that... It just seems just seems like an awful short time for a coupon's validity, and it was only one day.

Guess i should spend less time playing and more time online :thumb:

I got an e-mail from them "A Special Coupon for you" or something like that. Probably 20% off, oh cool I say, I got it the 16th (for example), let's see when it expires? Oh..the 16th. Yeah that's weird.

Oh, and this probably only would apply to very few of you, but GC does offer a military discount. It's 10% which is pretty standard, but it can atleast knock off sales tax.

I see no fault of GC here, however I know corporate is starting to be hard-nosed about a lot of things, which will hurt them.

Fair enough.

Voodoo Labs is most often an excluded brand. Was this coupon some type of special offer?

excluded brands don't mean anything unless it's a company like Mesa who tells the dealer the price is the price. If they can't use a coupon, they give you a "discount".

As for the expiration date, I feel your frustration but it's not their fault you didn't see the email. Just return it. You'll get another coupon for a President's Day sale I bet.

Agree about excluded brands. My experience is that if I go in with a coupon and say, "Hi, I'd be interested in a Les Paul (or American Strat or Deluxe Tele, or any reasonable purchase) can I use this 15% coupon?", they say sure. The excluded brand thing protects the from violating lowest advertised price restrictions. They will usually deal rather than lose a sale. I've always got good prices at GC and will continue to deal with them locally.

Place smokes tampons. Strings and picks only. Play the gear there, buy elsewhere. It's just a place to demo.

Personally you wasted your time and gas money. You missed the sale so you got your panties in a knot? Is that what this thread is about?

So if you go to see you favorite band play the DAY AFTER they are in your town that you had tickets for do you following them to the next town to bitch about you missing it? didn't think so ;)

GC will be going out of business soon so plan for big sales to move inventory...don't miss it :)

Expired by 1 day. Emailed on the 29th, expired on the 1st. That spanned the weekend. Not everybody is a slave to their technology and checks their non work email constantly.

OmG, those bastards. They did that on purpose.
