Yes it has gotten quite bad in the last few years.

It wouldn't be worth $9k if it was Gary Moore's actual guitar!

I've seen some blatant lies by sellers recently. A guy was selling a used Gibson VOS 57 Custom, Bigsby model for around £3500, he was saying they were made to order and that if somebody wanted one they'd have to pay £5000 and wait 6 months! Absolute crap. I just hope nobody fell for it! I know where I could get one brand new for £2699 right now. There's plenty of dealers in the UK with them in stock. 2PU, 3PU, Bigsby or not....

It's theft basically.
