GIBSON 1960 Les Paul Reissue Plaintop Electric Guitar | GuitarCenter

Just got the monthly Guitar Center flyer and noticed they had a plain top reissue. Wondering if this was the return of the G0 so I went online to check specs and sure enough, its a plain top 1960 reissue.

Not sure if it will be a R0 serial or G0, but its a cheaper way to a historic than the flame R0, but at $4600 not all that much cheaper. Glad I got my G0 back when the cost was reasonable. =)

Well, if this is the case...they will be a good deal when they hit the used market. The G0 has been a remarkable value, but even better secondhand.

Not to mention the older models on the used market might enjoy a price boost as well. =)

Gibson has been letting some fairly figured "plain tops" go to market the past two years...great value for the money.

Actual G0s are a great entry into the Historic world for not a lot of coin. My first Les Paul was a G0!

I don't look at the top while playing so a G0 is just fine.

I always wondered why G0s are sometimes seen as being inferior to the other Rs.

How are they any better/worst than R7/R8s?

Because you can get them for 2000, I have seen as low as 1800. I suppose some R7/R8s can be had for that. I don't consider G0s inferior. I owned one for 5 years so I should know.

Pretty tops are expensive.

Someday I may get an R9/R0 but don't really feel the additional cost will really translate into better sound and playing.
