Another crack rock casualty.

fix'd

I will step up and say i am probably the BIGGEST Sly and the Family Stone fan on MLP...this saddens me but anyone whos followed him would wonder how this outcome took this long. hes been messd up , paranoid, spaced out nd flat out dilusional for a solid 10 years at least now. hes been too far gone ...the surviving band tours without him because they feel the music can be delivered to the people better without Slys freakouts, avantgarde crazy man rants and absences....hes been guilty of believing his own hype for a long long time...its finally swallowed him. what a damn shame.

I refer to them as Rock Casualty's because thats what they are to me regardless of their addiction problem. If he was a bank teller, he probably would not have lived the excessive lifestyle that he did as a rocker all those years. I have lost 10 fellow musician friends over the years due to substance abuse.

“I just do not want to return to a fixed home. I cannot stand being in one place. I must keep moving.”

Which is why he's parked outside someones house who feeds him and lets him shower.Yep, the bold adventurer there. The black Jean-Louis "Jack" Lebris de Kerouac.

The younger amongst us are invincible, and that'll never happen to them, for sure.
The older here know that you can never know what the future holds for you.
Don't be too hasty to point fingers and cry "only fools go down that road....."

The performer’s cash-flow problems forced him out of his Napa Valley house that he rented with money from a 2007 European tour and into cheap hotels and the van in 2009. Stone hopes to soon put the lawsuit and his other woes behind him.

“My music is a format that will encourage you to have a song you won’t forget. That’s why I got so much money, that there are so many people around, and that’s why I am in court. Millions of dollars!” Stone says. “But now please tell everybody, please, to give me a job, play my music. I’m tired of all this s--t, man.”

Earlier this year, Stone released an album of his hits re-recorded with other artists. Stone has new songs, but he no longer trusts record companies or managers and is wary about making a deal to release another album. He works constantly on new music, often staying up for two days straight, then sleeping for the next two. (In a nice piece of symmetry, some of his 1971 album, “There’s a Riot Goin’ On,” was recorded in a Winnebago.) He has hundreds of new tracks recorded in his van that he keeps for himself. For now, at least.

“But, with new energy, it will feel good to step on stage,” he says. “I see all the guys playing those old songs. Let these guys know, like Lady Gaga, let me come in, just let me come in and pay me if you like it.”

Sounds like he needs some good advice and a plan...

It is really sad.... I heard about Mick talking to Michael Corby last year sometime. That is a true tragedy as well. Mick OWNS the licks in "can't you hear me knockin"... I hav eseen the stones 4 times over the years and that song just is not the same without Mick!

I was making a joke to my wife just a couple days ago (who has never even heard of Sly so obviously the joke was wasted). I said BREAKING NEWS!!! Sly Stone still alive!!
She was really digging the music as I played hit after hit for her. What a funky spaced out brotha. I'm sure his music wouldn't have been the same had he not been so stoned and spaced.
