Hi All. Been a long time I've been on here. Been a few changes I see.

I'm looking to sell my '74 Gibson Les Paul Custom. It's sunburst. All original except for the tuners, replaced with Sperzels, and the knobs as far as I'm aware. Added thumb wheel on the bridge post. But I'm welcoming to your input.

It has had a refret as some point in it's lifetime. Not my lifetime. It plays beautifully.

The finish does appear to have some sort of overspray/clear coat on top? Not sure but it is unique.

Comes with a chainsaw case. One latch has been replaced. The rest work perfectly.

I'm Asking $2900 US. Or $1300US cash and a trade valued at approximately $1600US. All negotiable.

Shipping is approximately $100

My trade wish list is: Rickenbacker 4001 or similar, early 70's SG, early Hiwatt, Orange or Marshall heads. Open to other similar ideas along the same line if you get where I'm coming from. i.e. early Hamer, Dean, other cool stuff like that.

Feel free to ask any questions.

PM me if interested.

Thanks for looking! Cheers Marc

Cool guitar, but IMO it`s a complete refin.
I`ve never seen that color scheme. I could be wrong. Just my opinion.
Pickup covers have been on and off a few times.
But with a refret(most need it) I`m sure it`s a great player.
GLWTS.

Hi My friend. From what I was told by the previous owner the original paint is underneath an additional coat of some sort. Not sure who or why. But you know some people did strange things in the 70's. But if it was a refin it was done nicely. A bit different nonetheless.

Like I said, I could be wrong. I just have never seen that color scheme.
It isn`t a knock on it.
Just an observation.

And being an anniversary model makes it a little more rare.

it is a refinish....I would need some more pics to be sure, but it looks like a re-stamp on the serial number, also the bridge looks new and is confused on it's direction.....nice piece.

It'd be nice to see some more pictures of this in stronger natural light (with less glare) to get a better idea of what the finish looks like. The two front shots have kind of a weird grey/metal-like look to them, the one of the back of the headstock looks murky and more opaque than usual, however the closeup picture of the bridge looks about right, in color and transparency. I think the glare/reflected light on the finish in those first few pics is making this look weirder than it really does. From what we can see, in all the pics, the finish looks professionally leveled and polished -- I have a strong hunch this guitar looks pretty good in person. Not trying to pick your ad apart at all; I think it's a nice example.

Best of luck with the sale. These 20th anni LPCs are cool!

I could see that being an overspray with tinted clear...either way, GLWS!

My 74 had the sunburst on the back and neck too! Good guitars, typically very heavy and they were truly fretless wonders then.
