1970s player grade Les Paul Custom here for sale. Let’s get the bad outta the way. Headstock repair/non original 70s case/refret. Neck repair feels solid and I've not had an issue with it in the couple years I've owned it. Finish has some checking on the headstock, and back has fair share of buckle rash, but not a ton that's actually through the finish.
Pots date the guitar to ‘74 if they’re original, and the serial number could be ‘74 (140xxx), but I just say it’s an early 70s as Norlin era Gibson was quite messy in documentation and specs. It was sold to me as a 72/73. As far as specs, it has a pancake body, 3 piece mahogany neck with volute, "Made in USA" stamped below serial, and transitional tenon.
Has a new bone nut and set up for 10-46 strings. Gold bridge and tailpiece are original as far as I know. Tuners are 70s era milk bottle grovers and keep tune well. Back plastics with scratchings of the triangle/screaming punk are original so far as I know, but poker chip, pickguard, and rings are recent plastics as it came with cream rings/chip that looked quite bad to me. Pickups are 80's DiMarzio PAF's that read at 8.56k in the neck and 8.6k in the bridge and sound really killer in this guitar.
Weighs in a little under 9.5lbs which is one of the lightest Norlins I’ve ever played and it’s balanced well so feels a bit lighter on the strap. Plays and feels great with a nice medium profile neck that isn’t overly fat or thin. Case is beat up, with one latch missing, but works. Open to selling with a more recent Gibson USA case if you'd prefer. $3000 plus shipping/fees.
