1980 Gibson Les Paul Custom in Tobacco Burst with original Tim Shaw pick ups, all original. These guitars are very hard to come by in this finish because nobody wants to sell them. This is a rare opportunity. This guitar is everything a great Les Paul Custom should be, with lightly figured maple beneath the transparent finish on the top and the power and sustain that only comes from a Les Paul Custom!

This guitar has the typical Les Paul weight but is very well balanced, with mass that really adds to the tonal heft of the instrument. The Tim Shaw pickups are the best PAFs out there since the originals. They simply sound amazing. There's a very dynamic quality to this guitar, with a clear and commanding sound that is evident even when strummed acoustically. The guitar responds instantly to changes in pick attack and is consistent with the tonal profile of the mahogany-necked early 80’s Les Pauls, The bound ebony fretboard has pearl block inlay and original fretwire that is in excellent shape. The headstock sports all the hallmarks of a Les Paul Custom, with the split diamond inlay, "Custom" truss rod cover, multi-ply headstock binding and Gibson stamped tuning machines.

The guitar has no breaks, cracks or repairs, the top and back are in amazing shape for its age, no scratches or dings, very clean. There is some wear on the neck since the finish wears off on these models but the feeling of the neck is as smooth as before. The headstock shows some finish checking on the front and back which adds to its mojo. This is a very clean example and the frets are original, 80% life left.

This beast of a guitar comes with its original 80s Gibson hardcase.

Price 5300$ USD

Wow! that is one sweet looking guitar. I had an extra custom pickguard in my parts and never even thought of putting it on my tribute until I seen your guitar. Not to hijack your post or anything, but thanks for the inspiration. Here is my tribute.
