In transit to BCR, these are the pics from my guy that found it.

1958, all original. Factory Grover guitar. OHSC in pebble black/yellow lining.

VERY GOOD condition.

Refinned

Refin?

Definitely not trying to question your judgement, Greg, but the condition of the finish (lack of yellowing/aging) vs. everything else is kind of :hmm:

Still, VERY beautiful, and lust-worthy.:wow:

Bah.

Too much weirdness, I didn't buy it.

Some days, this biz is a real pain in the ass.

Probably better off?

Even at first-glance (and, yes,I know they're just pics), something just doesn't seem right.

Greg - for those of us, me included, can you point out the things that bothered you?
I know Greg is perfectly capable of answering for himself, but I'm pretty sure that I'm right in my assumption that it is indeed a refin.

Even from the limited number of pics, you can clearly see that the condition of the case, hardware/plastics, and the finish are severely contrasting. And, that's assuming everything else is "original"?

Either way, I think Greg made the right call.

Edit: I see that Greg himself even added that it WAS "Refinned" in his OP, so there you go.

The dot on my 58 is about the same...but the colour is more yellow, probably because this one the clear isn't ambered yet after being redone. Looks kinda cool, to bad you couldn't get something worked out!

One of the things that stuck out the most (besides the obvious lack of age) was the thickness/style of the logo. Specifically, the "o", which looks more like the modern version - more open, than the ones from the '50s. Even the shape of the headstock itself looks more "modern".

Example:

"'58" from the OP
