You are looking at a 1957 Goldtop Reissue hand aged by Tom Murphy himself in 2000 (not one of the current production “Murphy Labs" guitars). The year 2000 is the transition year when Gibson started offering certificates on their guitars in the later half of the year. This one is from early 2000, and as such, did not ship from the factory with a COA. I called Gibson and from their records was able to verify Tom Murphy did age this guitar. The fretboard is extremely dark and porous ala Brazilian rosewood. It’s actually darker in color than a prior certified Brazilian board R9 I had (side by side comparative pictures of the two are available if you would like). Gibson did not specify in great detail which of their Les Paul reissues had Brazilian boards from 2000-2003, although there is a rough idea based on serial number. Again, it is not specified that this is a Brazilian board, but I highly suspect it is. As such, the price is not reflective of a Brazilian board Murphy aged reissue. It plays like an absolute dream. It is all original with no breaks, cracks or mods. The finish is the beautiful vintage accurate antique gold. This guitar looks, plays and feels like an old vintage Les Paul. The neck measurements are 0.895” at the 1st fret and 0.991” at the 12th fret. It has lived it’s entire life in it’s OHSC and is in the same condition it left the factory in 22 years ago!! Shipping is to the lower 48 CONUS only. Includes OHSC and all case candy. $5500 shipped to you fully insured.
