Hi All,

I'm getting ready to custom order a new R9 and am trying to choose ideal reference pics for color and for top figure. I've found some nice pics on the web, but thought that I would be remiss without consulting the undisputed experts off all things 'Burst -- my MLP brethren! :thumb:

...Besides, thought this would give us one more excuse (like we need one, right?) to look at pics of beautiful Les Pauls! :naughty:

I'm looking for pics with color in the range of Honeyburst to Lemon Burst. I don't want to go all the way to Unburst, as I'd still like at least some of the remnants of a slightly darker burst around the edges. And, I've already got an Iced Tea (one of the more recent versions with a bit more red in the brown and the yellow being more golden). Some Lemonbursts seem to have an almost slightly greenish tint (Green Lemonburst?)... I really like these as well.

So, let's see what you got! If it's not yours, it's still fair game (as long as the owner doesn't mind)... I have no problems looking at more pics of Joe Bonamassa's "Skinner Burst" or Bernie Marsden's "The Beast"! :wow:

Thanks!

There is a burst there believe it or not, but its very subtle. You can only see it under certain lighting conditions.

Same guitar, but brighter lights.

Here is my 2008 lemonburst R9. There is only one problem with this guitar and that is that it is so beautiful that I dare not touch it :thumb:
Good luck with the hunt !!

Would Gibson be willing to send you pics of tops they have available and let you choose from a batch? Personally, I would want the final say in the exact top.... Having said that, hopefully they will work with you and see to it that you are able to find the right top for you...

I don't think I'll have quite that level of control. Last time, I gave a detailed write up and reference pics and didn't see the guitar until I opened the case for the first time. As I understand it, the top was actually created for me after hand picking the appropriate wood. The person that will be building this for me is the same as last time and a true master, though, so I have faith. :thumb:

Not mine but it is in a very nice (retirement) stage of its finish:

This is described by Gibson as a Honeyburst with a hint of red left in it. It also has the appearance of a dirty lemon burst too.

This is an Epiphone Elite MIJ NOT a Historic Les Paul but I still think its a brillant color....this is described as Faded Cherryburst...
