Only recreational activity I know of that the end result is always death. If you do it long enough, you will die doing it.

Fuck that. I won't even climb a flight of stairs without a safety harness.

There was a movie made about another, Marc-André Leclerc, the Alpanist, I watched it a month ago and am still amazed by it.

... like I've mentioned before, I used to work oil field and had to work derricks a few times. On a triple, which is what we worked, it was 90 ft to the floor and about 130 to the ground. A "Geronimo" line was the safety exit ... usually tied to a barb wire fence on the permiter of the site.

Had a "vest" and rope (about 12 feet) tied to you, in case you fell. And out on the "diving" board you went to throw or pull pipe.

Yeah, nothing like the OP, but pucker factor none the less. Only had to do it a few times as I never really wanted the position. I was so sore just from keeping puckered up all night. :laugh2:

The fingers in the above photo eventually hold all the pipe as shown here.

Here is the board you walked out to the end of.

Found an image with some dude's toes sticking over the edge. Redwings were the boots of choice!
