I read this story from the day it was brought here......pretty cool all away around.....but you know what I really want to know.....what kind of case fell from the sky, on fire, burned, and saved a guitar?

I want a few of those things.

When I read this story this morning I couldn't believe it...I have been a PF and LP fan since the 70's. After all these years I thought the plane went down over water, not land!! Anyway, I have always been interested in this guitar...like why were the PU rings black in HP, then white (the switch was black with HP too, then white solo). Then the pick guard was added around 79...then the PUP's were white...then it was gone. I swear, PF could write a book on this damn guitar and I would buy it. Congrats to Pete and thanks to all involved...I spent about 2 hours reading all of these posts tonight...it is just so cool and so hard to believe.

So Peter is going to play at the Beacon Theater and other places on the east coast. I say we go see him.

Congrats to Ben and Donald!:applause:

I cant even imagine how happy he must have been to get it back, especially after all the hardships he's had to endure over the years! It makes me especially happy, because him and that guitar (and, the Talk-box) were what got it all started, for me!

I can't wait to see/hear more, and to see it refinned (or, not) back to it's original glory!:dude:

Thanks for an awesome ride!
Thanks for Your support

Peter Frampton was my first influence, and I started playing guitar, and fell in love with the Les Paul because of him.
As I was snooping around the web, reading all the info I could find, finding pictures and videos, matching up images side by side I was convinced, this was his guitar.
I am so happy that he has his #1 back. That guitar was an icon from my youth, and I can't wait to see it in action again. Things like this just don't ever seem to happen. I'm glad it did this time!:applause:

Thanks Benwave and Spicky for such a cool story, and to Orangejeaap for bringing it to our attention. I love a happy ending. Which brings up the question - who's writing the book...? :)

I admit that I was one of the doubters that it was his original '54, but I did think it was one of his guitars based on the evidence posted in the thread by several members, while still holding out hope for Peter's sake that it was the '54. I'm happy to say that I sit corrected and having said that, I want to extend my congratulations to Donald and Ben!!!! This is as good as it gets and it's about time that something positive happens to Peter, he's had some bad breaks over the years.

Thanks for sharing this story with us and keep us posted (spiky) on the outcome of the creme/alpine white LP too!

Congrats again and !!!!

I'm sitting here pondering how this instrument could possibly drive Tom Murphy compleatly over the edge.

Imagine trying to create a "run of a hundred" of THAT critter.

Let's see....

Razor blades: Check
Freezer: check
Hairdryer: check
dremel: check
torch: check

20 cases of jolt and 50lbs of coffee: CHECK!!
