I was focusing on a Mexican Charvel San Dimas or Jackson Dinky but this boy popped… Fender made in USA with Floyd Rose.. seller claims it is from the 90’s.. priced at around $1,200

I've owned a Charvel with a Charvel (Jackson) neck; Floyd-Rose; and locking tuners since the early 1980's.*
Great guitar for shredding (which I haven't been able to enjoy since a bike accident in 2005).
Played nice; light weight; and it sounded.., just vicious.
Does it stay in tune?
No.
Not in your favourite Aunt Nellie's month of Sundays!
One song, re-tune. Next song, re-tune.
Pain in the ass with "locking" tuners to keep adjusting as well each time!

Although I did have 0.008's and 0.009's on it, only going to 0.010's after buying my first LP.
Maybe a heavier string woulda tamed it a bit.

I actually left home one day to apply for a mortgage.
Came back with the Charvel and my first Marshall amp instead!
It was the right choice.

That doesn’t look like an actual Floyd trem…. It’s a crappy licensed version. These days there are several options. The original made in Germany is def the best, followed by the 1000 series which is the same as the original just made in Korea. There’s also the Special which isn’t very good. Most of the Charvels out there now have the 1000 series which is decent, stays in tune, and feels pretty good. But the German made one is a made from more durable material and will probably last longer.

The Charvel DK24 Pro Mod is decent enough. I like it better than the HM Strat for some reason….

I still prefer something with stainless steel frets and think a used Carvin is going to be a better quality instrument.

Unfortunately I am in Egypt… very poor market.. I am actually considering this Fender because I can’t fine any Charvel listed for sale !

I have 9 Super Strats of varying price ranges. I always prefer a USA made guitar. But I also have a couple Japanese guitars that are killer. I’m in a ‘80’s tribute band so a woodgrain guitar doesn’t have the look I want personally.

You should also consider looking at a Japanese made Fender HM Strat. They are killer guitars that come in white, blue & pink. I got mine used for $900. Then I spent another $300 on a SD Hot Rodded pickup set and a 1000 series Floyd to replace the crappy pickups and Floyd Rose Special. It screams now!

Fender HM Strat. That doesn’t look like one to me. They actually might have used Kahler Spider trems. Solid colors, black painted headstocks, rosewood necks, sculpted heel, and very wide flat jackson like necks. Most I believe were SSH with no pickguard. I had two that I sold that I shouldn’t have, they were great guitars.

I believe in the last couple of years they rereleased them as a MIJ or MIX import for around $1000. You can find used original model for about the same.

Those charvel are really nice even the $1000 non usa model.

For me it’s Jackson’s all the way for super strats but if you don’t love the wide flat necks you’ll have a harder time finding a more traditional fender Strat with a Floyd but they exist.

The new HM Starars are made in Japan. They did use a Kahler trem which I’ve never been a fan of. They are terrific guitars…I love mine.

If you can get your hands on it and it feels good to you, it is a great deal. Those 90s' American Classic Floyd Rose Strats are going for around $2000 now.

I have a number of recessed Floyd Charvel's and trust me after you have them for long enough you will GAS for a top-mounted Floyd because that is how they originally are in the 80s.

If You are not fixed on a strat, i would recomend trying out a «EVH» type guitar. I have had EVH wolfgang and EBMM axis. Great guitars, very easy to play imo.

That's clearly been refinished. In that era Fender used veneers on solid colors to hide the body seams, and you can see where the veneer ends and the multipiece body is revealed.

It could be a refinished Classic FR, or it could be a totally different model that had the Floyd added when it was refinished.

It was black but owner got the finish sanded.. other than this, it is all stock
