so if it's a 59ri les pauls and it has flames on the body, it's ok and everyone goes "oooohhhhh".. but if it's a prs - huh! that's awful.. a little effed up don't you think? historics, gibson historics, which i have too., when people buy it fi:thumb:rst thing people do, yep even before playing it .. change electronics, pick ups and killer set up..-acceptable but with prs- better qc and if one is flawed "oh the whole line sucks"..

From what I've read here I think there have been more complains about Gibson's QC than PRS's.

I think PRS set the bar very high for themselves. Even the SE series, although vety expensive for guitars with oem hardware/pickups provide a consistently better playing experience than their competition ( Epiphone, Import Dean, Import BC Rich etc...)

The US series, like most US made guitars appear grossly overpriced, even more so than Gibson (due to the lack of US made, near import quality guitars, which Gibson is producing more and more of).
If you are spending a couple of grand on something that is supposed to be fantastic, but appears on the surface to be little different visually than its import counterpart then you expect perfection.
Ive played but never owned a PRS, I expected so much more from the instrument, like the holy grail of guitars, because thats how they are marketed. I was disappointed.

They were fantastic but not £1500 better than my £800 Gibson.

Les Paul Standard £1800+
PRS Custom 24 £2500+

Prices local to me right now.

But regardless I was talking about PERCEPTION. Which is what the original post was talking about. You should know, it was you coming out from under your bridge.

Regarding EMGs , dont be a prick. I have fitted EMGs to only one of my guitars. As an upgrade from passive EMGs. The other EMG armed guitars came with them.I use EMGs when playing with my band because they suit our music better than any of the others I have used.

I've trialled the following for my band:
SD Alnico 2 pro
SD Slash
Gibson 500t
SD JB
SD Dimebucker
SD Invader
EMG HZ
EMG 81
EMG Designed P90
Kent Armstrong Distortion
Kent Armstrong Rocket
Gibson Burstbucker 3
Rockfield Mafia
Dimarzio Super Distortion
Dimarzio X2N
Dimarzio D Activator
Dimarzio Evo
Dimarzio Air Norton
Dimarzio Fred
Dimarzio Mo Joe
Dean DMT
BKP Nailbomb
BKP Warpig
And a fair few others...

I have trade accounts with both SD and Dimarzio due to the upgrade/custom harness sales I make in my local area.
Im not some EMG blind Knucklehead, and I'm not a passive vs active snob either, so dont try and put my argument about PRS perception down inventing something that isnt there.

I'm still testing others out all of the time, next on my list is the SD Black Winter set.
