I have wanted to use one of the Yahoo Japan websites to buy this guitar and ended up using Rinkya. I have no idea whether or not Rinkya was the least expensive choice as far as fees and shipment costs to the US. Rinkya was the first Yahoo Japan site to successfully process a payment for my bidding this time, months before I had used Zenmarket to bid on something else and got refunded at no loss but I couldnt use their site to bid this time.

Here is the Les Paul!

The process went smooth-- here are a few screenshots along the way

Does anyone know how much the next charge is going to be from Rinkya to ship it out of their warehouse to the US?

Hey so I watched this on Youtube and it gave me a good estimate on shipping for one guitar from the Rinkya warehouse to the US. ~ $100 - $150

If anyone wants to buy from Yahoo Japan! on Rinkya.com this link was provided for me to earn a commission bonus with new sign ups!

Congrats! Looks like a great LP project to me!

So far my shipping costs using jauce have been a bit over $100 but those were without cases.

Couldn't you find such a MiK guitar in the US ?

I wonder if it is worth the hassle with shipping in the end...:hmm:
Hey yall thanks for the replies we have to wait a few weeks probably. These first edition Koreans are hard to come by, theres one for sale on eBay for 550 shipped and the last one I saw pop up sold on musicgoround for 550 shipped aswell. The first edition Korean SGs dont sell for as much but they are great feeling aswell.

Have to agree, been a long time since I had one shipped with Rinkya but they used to be at least $250 for a single guitar to europe once they add in all their processing fees etc. Bit of a false economy buying the cheaper guitars off YJ you'd probably have got Japanese Epi for another $100 without the damage or rusty truss rod. That's not to say what you've bought isn't good it's just financially you'd probably get a similar deal wherever you're based and if buying from Japan there are so many underrated and better brands than the Korean epis all at the same or slightly higher price.

Thanks for the input guys, I found what I wanted awhile ago just pulled the trigger on buying it through Rinkya. I'll see the quote for shipping to the US soon, heres a screenshot from this morning when I checked the website. Although there are many Japanese Epiphones on Yahoo Japan the ones I would go for seem to be pushed out of reasonable price range by multiple bidders.

Not to rain on your parade, but I should point out that this guitar isn't Japanese. It's an 89 Korean. Japan didn't start making Les Pauls until the 1990s, with the exception of the 1982 matsumoku. You can find these narrow open books in the states.

Edit - just saw you pulled the trigger on it. Bummer. I wish I would have seen this thread sooner. Anyway, that's why the price was so cheap. I hope shipping isn't too high.

Oh, thanks! I am aware the guitar is not Japanese, theres none of these for sale local to me or online in the states at the moment.. I hope the shipping is not an unreasonably high price-- I'll update with more info asap. I really like my other two Korean Epiphone Les Pauls with the same headstock for many reasons, so I am very happy to get another standard.

Definitely update this thread with how this all turns out. As I posted earlier, I see nothing wrong with the deal. It's a fairly unique guitar, imo. Has lot's potential, too.

Even with the shipping I think that guitar is good looking and has a lot of potential.

I see Rinkya charges more for shipping than Jauce does though. I just got a Greco singlecut using Jauce and it was $118 to ship. No case though, just a gigbag.
