Hey Guys ! Long time no seen :hmm:

2013 I started after long research to build a replica... which I then unfortunately stopped due to time and tool shortage .... now 3 months ago I started again .... with 3...:-D two 59's and a 54 it should be.

The 59er from all classic woods such as Honduras Mahogany and Brazilian Rosewood

and the 54 from Spanish Cedar and Cocobolo.

The tops are made of very crazy patterned Canadian maple.

Make your own picture ! Comments are welcome.
I'm curious what you think about it :-D

kudos on the spanish cedar. rare as hens teeth and correct for an early goldtop (usually a '52 from my reading).

thank you ! Exactly ! I am very excited about this combination... the wood is extremely light, very resonant and has a very balanced taptone :D

Where are you reading this? AFAIK the bodies were all Honduran Mahogany on all the 50's Les Pauls. I hope it wasn't in a Youtube video from some young guy that has some "secrets" to share! LOL

Cheers Peter.

That’s an unproven rumor that’s been going around for a long time…maybe there were a couple that snuck through, but I’m skeptical too

I think it is an "unconfirmed rumor" that could well be... the harvest area is the same and there it could be possible that a log Cedar has slipped in... I do not want to start a discussion here about true or not true.
I have also read from a few sources that it could be and I like the idea of a very light goldtop with P-90 pickups and also believe that the wood could fit tonally very well :)

unconfirmed/unproven same diff…and sure it’s possible (a said as much). Doesn’t really matter to me. It’s a great tonewood, and I’d not hesitate to use a good light piece for a body!

Yesterday evening I milled the binding channel, drilled the input hole, rounded the edge on the back on all three Bodys and glued the binding to one of them. Have probably overdone with the glue ....When everything is cured I have to do a little clean up

So far so good ! I’m happy with the result !!

Looks really great. The aging of the fret board and inlays look really nice. You may want to get a more accurate head stock template though. I can hook you up. :D

The fingerboard was aged a bit and the whole first guitar was glued together !Of course with Hide glue! I'm very happy with the result now missing the humbucker routing and then it goes to the preparation for the paint work Of course with Hide glue! I am very happy with the result now missing the humbucker milling and then it goes to the preparation for the paint work. This will be equipped with Grover "Milk bottle“ mechanics and of course note the beautiful carpet !
