Fireworks are legal in Pennsylvania, the border is 90mi from Buffalo. There are billboards advertising firework stands across the PA/NY border: "Fireworks for sale, First exit after border.".

Yeah, for three years now. I've never heard the locals around here light more off, including an impressive for locals aerial display last night. I'd imagine tonight's might be bigger.

I'd imagine the NYC pyrotechnic problems come straight out of PA too. What kind neighbors we are.

Legal fireworks in PA a good move? Tax wise, yes. every other way probably not. I'm glad I do not have my little dog now. She'd be a wreck.

I feel for all of you pet owners. :sadwave:

Worst firework show I ever saw... Niagara Falls.

It might have been a weekly touristy thing, so not a huge budget.

It pissed me off. You are STANDING NEXT TO NIAGARA FALLS and ooohing and ahhhing over a shitty fireworks display. You can see a shitty display at any county fair (and some darn good displays, too). But you can only see Niagara Falls at.... Niagara Falls.

They light the Falls pretty well, and the place is really cool after dark. Fireworks detract from that.

Did you try the barrel rides?
they are da bomb!

i spent last night comforting my dog in the basement. same plan tonight.

it's not hard to understand why she hates big bangs. she's been shot at, at least 3 times.

Damn, are they cutting loose - on either side of me. No citizen show was ever this elaborate around here.

I just saw what can be described as a UFO. I know, during the pyrotechnics and all ...

It was mostly red, rather star shaped as seen through my glasses. Looked to be considerably higher than the aerial displays could go, moving quite slowly. It remained lit longer than any mortar launched flare could go.

Ran inside to get my binoculars. By the time I got back out it had dimmed considerably, eventually fading. A clue as it died out - I think I saw the dim illumination of a clear or translucent balloon. A common road flare launched from a balloon I'm guessing.

I likely saw the very end of the flare. Anyone else ever see this done?

I lived in NIag.Falls for a while. The fireworks show is lame but hearing them echo down the gorge is interesting. My ex-wife was afraid of heights. She didn't want to go over the bridge, she thought the fireworks weakened the structure.

Fireworks are legal here and it seems like everyone is taking advantage of it this year. I have never seen nor heard so many in this neighborhood before.

As for pets, I have a parrot. He is a little skittish when he hears the loud ones but the rest of them he shrugs off. Then again, parrots are quite intelligent and after 25 years, he is not the dullest knife in the drawer.

Every toolbag who is amazed by things that go boom is setting them off in my neighborhood.

Yay.
I tried to relax on my patio with the dog a few minutes ago but it was too loud. They are coming from all directions, powder smoke everywhere.

Yeah, same here. That smell ...

They are already winding down. One was from the NE side of my neighborhood. The other was in a townhome development a bit further to my west.

Wait ... another volley is being lit...

We just had the Normandy invasion going on here. It seems to be calming down. If they are done by 10pm, it won’t be so bad.

Hearing-impaired dog is not bothered this year.
The nuts around here have been kind enough not to light them off in the late hours. I'm a heavy sleeper, so :dunno:

Some of the whistling missiles are being shot at a 45deg angle, they had me doing a duck and cover thing. I spent a long time in the military, I don't have ptsd but I almost hit the dirt after a few volleys.
